Until I get a big chunk of this backlog done I'll pretty much remain stressed as hell. I guess I can knock away at a design document and finish a test later...

I was going to take care of it the tail end of last week, but hey guess what Microsoft Whizzing All Over Pages And Calling It A Program assignments came up.

Seriously. Word does so much dumb shit. Resizing an image does not mean "send it to the top of the document" or worse yet "delete the image entirely".

I haven't placed at all this month. Wow.

No excuses either. I was online almost all day. Just obviously not here >.<

So I don't know what's all going on with Penn State, some scandal is all I know.

Anyway, I've been on hiatus for a little while now because of work and starting raiding again in WoW. The past month I'd been working on a large project that was eating up most of my time at work. And then I started raiding again in the evenings so I didn't have much free time during those 3 nights to browse the web either. But that big project at work is over and raiding has become more routine, I'll have more time to post on Jul again!

And this is reason #533 why I don't want to attend a public university.

I'd be much more worried about the commute and higher volume of people there.

Seriously, if I have to start taking buses and shit when I transfer I am going to be pretty nervous about carrying anything at all of more than marginal value.

See, public universities here are the only universities with an education worth a damn.

Yet private primary/secondary schooling is generally higher quality. Go figure.

Out of curiosity, does Australia use the American-style naming for "public" and "private" schools, or the British one?

I went to a private school for my undergraduate degree. It was an overpriced pile of shit, to be honest.

Now I'm applying to a rather famous and prestigious state school and it's still less expensive than my old school.

You'd have to explain to me the difference first.

Here, state-owned schools are "public", but my understanding is that in England they're considered "private" for some historical reason. (whereas "public" schools there are private institutions)

I never attended and doubt I will ever attend a university or college. Probably due to costs and my lack of quality background. But at least this shop thing may give me some sort of positive worth!

Ah.

State owned schools are 'Public', while privately held schools are 'Private'

Do you have any like, public schools that are more of a 'private' system so to speak? Like they're super elitist/controlled/closed but government owned?

Or would "Magnet School" make sense more?
I attended a magnet school myself is why I'm curious; it was rather open doored but getting access was limited to people with mental issues or advanced intellect.

None at a primary or secondary level that I know of.

Edit: I've never heard the term magnet school before, although I do know there are some schools set up for those with intellectual difficulties.

Do community colleges count? I've been going to one for the past few years, and I don't believe it's too difficult to get into one. (Then again, I did get in via a dual-enrollment program with my high school, so I could be way off base here...)

I'm on my way to getting an Informatics degree at UC Irvine, one of the few universities with an actual dedicated computer science school in it.

Odds are I'll get a job even before I finish my degree. Since I'm dirt poor most of my tuition is covered, to boot.
