No leftovers here (except in my grandmother's case - some fish and fries).

By the time that turkey's made, though, it'll feed me for a week at least I think. I don't know how much it is.

My grocery store was having an absolutely psychotic deal on turkeys. They were $0.49 a pound. No lie.

...Um.

Was that today? It wouldn't shock me one bit.

As for today, I just slept in until 3:30. Felt good.

No it wasn't. It was actually for at least a week and a half before Thanksgiving.

The fine print said one turkey per customer, but people were still getting through with like, two or three at times, but they all had to be rung up as separate orders. That pretty much kills the point of having the fine print anyway, but I'm not really in a good position to argue it.

...And just how big were these turkeys?

I'm a little surprised they were able to get by with multiple like that (you know that if one of us tried it we'd get shot down), though...

Well they'd usually be between $6-$10, so...double that to get the weights of the turkeys. They were pretty heavy, I'll say that.

I remember the front end manager (or someone higher up) mentioning they were losing money on the deal or something, but yet this was being done. Well, unless this is a charity thing, umm...I have no words.

Well, turkey was probably their loss leader, in the hopes that people would spend a lot on other supplies for thanksgiving dinner. It makes sense, if it worked out for them. I imagine it did if they were able to bring in a lot more customers than any other store.

Mmmhmmm.....my plan worked.

Anyway, as far as a loss leader goes, I can see it working. Aside from one other store (which never seems like a whole lot of competition as I haven't ever seen them busy in years), there's not really any competition though, so at least in this particular store, there's really nothing to fear because people in a fifteen mile range are going to come to us anyway.

Kind of hard to beat someone who got first place. But to get second is always possible.

I was more or less talking about beating them for a day.

I don't think Bloodstar has lost at all this month, and it's weird.

I could easily beat Bloodstar... just no reason to.

(I had to beat him endlessly to pass him in the first place, anyway, though if he gets too close you'll get to see me do that again.)

We weren't even testing for that.

Well, Wednesday should be interesting if everyone participates. #OccupyJCS will be in full swing, picket signs and all!

As for the past weekend and passing of Turkey Day, it was a nice long weekend to unwind and relax for the most part. Wednesday was spent cleaning and arranging the house to accommodate our potential guests. And it's a good thing we took care of it then. Thursday was a nice lazy day up until about 1pm when we started getting food set out. My in laws did the cooking but I made a pistachio pudding for desert. We ended up having almost 30 people at our house, mostly family and a few friends, 6 children (2 of them mine). Lots and lots of food, pretty much everyone brought something. We ended up with about 8 pumpkin pies, 2 apple pies, and 2 large apple caramel desert things. Plus cakes, cupcakes, brownies, etc. Needless to say, just about everyone overate that day.

After things wound down, my wife and her mother went out to the stores that opened Thursday night. They got back around 1am and then my wife went out again with her friend till almost 4am. I was up for the first time she came home, but the second I was sound asleep. She didn't get too much, just a few decently discounted items. She and her mom went back out Friday morning and my father-in-law and I went out to the drag strip to watch some racing. Then the rest of the weekend was spent playing video games and watching movies.
