Well, I won the phone at work then had a bitch of a time activating it.

Now that it HAS been activated though... unlimited calls from 7-11, 20 cents a minute, unlimited texts, 100 MB of data, voicemail, etc... $20/month. I'm fine with that.

Exactly. The texting is fine to keep in touch with people (and I can do that on my way to work/at breaks) and the 100MB of data is enough for me to take a glance at sports scores/weather or make the odd tweet.

It's enough features without being overloaded with bells and whistles.

Unlimited text messaging and 100MB in data for $20 a month would be a godsend for me.

As it is, I'm not sure of the rate for sending one message - I do know things have gone way up since 2006, though. I miss being able to get... 240 minutes, perhaps, for $20, and have that last me a while.

I also remember a while when I actually could browse some websites on that phone. It wasn't... exactly efficient, but it worked fine. Especially when I wanted to pull up a text document. As it is now, you're just limited to some dumb subset where you can buy pretty pointless content that you can't even fucking pull off the phone.

I don't use my phone much. Pretty much just to keep in contact with my brother. Good thing we have the "family is always free" plan, so I barely rack up any additional charges. My brother on the other hand...

I've got "IN" calling and texts and unlimited data. I mostly have it for the unlimited data because I spend 99% of my waking hours looking at some sort of internet related mishmash.

Clearly I am addicted to the internet.

I actually faintly considered getting a 3G plan at one point recently.

Thing is, I... don't know how much use I'd make of it, and with how much I had to wrestle just to fucking get 1mbps DSL... yeah.

I can think of all sorts of situations where a 3G data plan type thing would be really convenient... (even on my ancient smartphone, let alone a modern one), but the price... urgh.

Such as dodging shitty wireless?

Seriously, though, I'd love to have that for college - no need to use web apps for every damn thing. So frustrated they blocked the ssh port.
