This is a late reply, I know.

Well, your layout certainly looks nice. I feel like there's a few missing things though. The text shadow looks fair, but I can't say much about it because text-shadow is an annoying property to get good results out of, at least for me. Good job, though! It certainly matches the monochromatic theme.

So, I randomly thought, "Wouldn't DCK3's overworld be a great image to use in a layout?". This is the end result. Unfortunately the image available on the internet is too low-resolution and I have no idea how to rip the overworld from the ROM itself. If you couldn't tell, this is a test layout, but it does look nicer than I thought it would look like.

By the way, soon it'll be the 9th anniversary of DCK3 and the 5th one of the GBA port. The more you know!

EDIT: 19th anniversary of the SNES one, not 9th. Apperently I can't count.

Not a bad layout, but the light background blends in a little too well with the text.

A long time later, this thread is more or less abandoned.

Well, the main reason I'm posting here isn't really to show off my layout (believe it or not), but more something that I just recently realized. My layout is very similar to AB's original background. That was not my intention when making it, seriously. I was just messing with the repeating background property and this is the best result I got. Not that I'm complaining, this layout actually looks nice. Maybe a little to monochromatic, eh.

In other news, anyone here messed with the CSS3 Flexbox? It's something I discovered in my small trip to learn more about HTML/CSS. You can easily align divisions (<div>) and use it in so many interesting ways. You can create double signatures, side boxes, floating items that don't break everything, etc. It's very neat to say the least.

Ooh, that's pretty neat. The vertical spacing features are what intrigue me most.

I'm ashamed to admit my layout still uses an HTML table. It's not that I can't do better, but that I haven't bothered to spend enough time to convert it to proper CSS. Plus, I've had this winter Clock Town theme since Christmas 2014. I guess I should update it soon, huh?

my layout is uh, pretty basic. I literally copypasted this from K64, and uh, I have no idea how I actually got it to work

so yep. it's probably pretty terrible I assume? xD

oh yeah - I need to stretch it for the whole background to appear.

..which means this was a really badly coded layout.

i updated my layout to use the starsbg, since it looked better than the old BG. I might do a color change if I can find the right color..

After a lengthy hiatus from having a layout, I decided to make a simple one.
Originally posted by somebody, somewhere
I did include boxes for quotes, but that's hardly an original feature at this point.
I'll also be the first to admit that the color scheme isn't entirely a creation of my own, but I did make a few tweaks, particularly with link colors.

Speaking of color schemes, I did go through most of the options here on Jul to make sure this layout doesn't clash too terribly; that said, please let me know if under your color scheme this layout looks like vomit or is retina burning.

Another new layout.

I particularly like this one. Maybe I'll use it in other AcmlmBoard's as well..

Well, the sky is falling.

I went against my usual and made an original CSS with a slightly less original background image. This layout was meant for the boardc news engine, but I liked it enough that I ported it here.

The "porting" also counts as a little test I made - the original script wasn't "designed" for an inline CSS tag, so I used a simple PHP script to strip out newlines and tabs. This makes it a lot better than working directly with the inline CSS (like I did with my previous layout).

EDIT: I forgot the sample link. Linky linky

Here is a layout I "created" based off of the windows 2000 command prompt program. It looked fine in my profile and am seeing if that holds true here. I'll give a little history on the origins of the layout.

This layout originated on vizzed as a Windows 7 notepad layout made by BNuge in 2012 but with the new site code, the layout gets cut off now making posts impossible to see without copying n pasting the post into a text editor so I decided to recode the layout for use on vizzed and other sites (I can't edit my layout on vizzed like I can here as I have to reach a certain powerlevel so I am gonna have someone who has access to help me get it running) by using the inspect element option. You can even do that with this layout as well but I recommend Firefox (Unless your browser can highlight the areas when you scroll over the fields) to do this. To do this, just right click my layout and mouse over until the stuff above the post (Edit, delete quote etc) is highlighted and then mouse over the one below that one and then right click and hit edit as HTML. Highlight the code and use the ctrl+c key combo and then go to your profile and use ctrl+v to paste it in. That's how I got the layout code and then I took a picture of Windows XP notepad and then resized it to match the original image and then uploaded it to imageshack. For the command prompt layout, I changed the width and height settings as well as the image. I know that might be boring to read but I thought it would be an interesting backstory.

That oddly resized command prompt window is sure a thing. Are you sure it was necessary? :p

(you could have simply changed the size of the actual command prompt rather than resizing the image)

The alternative to that is making the text on the title bar their own object and just make a table with pieces to surround it and allow it to expand.

I'm sorry, like really, but that cmd-like layout is absolutely horrifying code-wise.

<div class="contentbox1 DynamicContentBox1 DynamicContentShadow" style="overflow-x:hidden; overflow-y:hidden; margin:0px; padding:0px;">
<div style="background-image: url(http://imageshack.com/a/img922/2838/VhLd9w.jpg)background-attachment:scroll;background-position:top left;
background-repeat: repeat-y;width:100%;height:500px">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="height:440px">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td style="vertical-align:top">
<table align="left" border="0" style="padding-left: 10px; padding-top: 48px; padding-bottom: 10px">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td style="width:780px; height:440px">
<div align="left" style="width:780px; height:440px; overflow:auto">
<font color="#FFFFFF" face="Lucida Console" size="2px">

I've literally been able to identify a dozen problems with that code. In fact, I was able to grab another image, crop it and use it with border-image and make a much cleaner version of it in not much time. It uses two divs, that's all. And well, because I had another cmd-like background rotting away somewhere in here (I coded it but I never used it), I merged them and got this. (it could be less hacky if I used tables but welp)

If you ever log in here again, I can PM you the new layout. If not, which I think is likely, anyone else interested can message me too. It's not like I'll ever use it anyway.

There's a gradient in use, which complicates the easy solution. But you can get around that by having the gradient be a CSS3 background gradient, and then using images for the text and buttons (with transparent backgrounds). The border can just be done as typical borders.

There's no need to be so harsh.

Just to make sure in case it wasn't clear, I was talking about Pokemonmaster1000's layout in which there's no gradient involved. I didn't mean to sound harsh, sorry, it's just, I know people that make not-so optiomal layouts at SMWC and I've still not seen one even near that level so that caught me off guard quite a lot. I posted the code there just so you can see how it is organized. Yes, that's the layout's HEADER.

I forgot dotUser had a cmd-like layout too because I use the HTTPS website and it doesn't show up here. Sorry again.

The title bar is a gradient, friend.

E: To expand upon what I mean, the layout could be made as a variable-width pseduo-cmd.exe fairly simple, with the gradient stretching to fit properly, just as it did in the Windows 2000 days it's based off of.

In your layout you put newlines and they have been automatically converted to <br> that's why your layout broke.

WRONG:
<div>
<span>STUFF</span>
</div>

Right:
<div><span>STUFF</span></div>

Thanks! Everything seems to look a lot better, but the only thing is that there is usually a space between the header box and the signature box. Do you know how to fix that? I also don't know where those -----s are coming from.
