Oh, whoops! There were a lot of moving parts to that post so there was tons of potential for error. Sorry!

I’m glad you liked it, though. Have you thought about customizing the font? I’m not exactly sure if Helvetica is you.

I've thought of it... preferably something serifed and with more Unicode support. CMU Serif, perhaps? (Ideally I'd like to have an option for a font I made for my conlang but I don't think that's doable at present.)

I think that’d could actually be perfect, but you might have to embed the font because I don’t think everyone has it. And then not every browser supports embedding, so you’d have to have a backup. Plus, some people just hate embedding. How about Century Schoolbook?

Embed CMU Serif with Century Schoolbook as fallback?

Then you can say you have a retro layout.

Also, this is a test post to check if my wierd mix of pre-existing classes known as "Alternate Layout" works.

NO, IT DOESN'T... I need to check what's wrong...

I'd recommend a couple of pixels of padding, just so the text doesn't butt up with the edge of its container. Other than that, it looks good!

Like this?

Anyway, I have drastically cleaned up the piece of Frankenstein monster known as my previous layout...

To give a general idea, here is the code in my previous header:

This code is not very good.

See all the "<div class="bx">"
That's not how you do a gradient...

The only <div class=""> that are still here now are an edited "body" for the background and "notepad" for the post.
All the others have been hidden, but they are still present. You might never know if you need them.

Also, see the ".console" thing? That's what is used in a particular IT thread.

---------------

Speaking about my current layout, I might change the font here. It's a leftover from the previous "notepad" class, but now it may only give problems. I'll let time make my decision...

Sorry for double posting, but I had a new wave of problems with the layout.

Oh geez, in this case, it was the hidden comments blending with the white, so I took a different route this time. I added some transparency and changed the body color to black.

Personally, it looks like a solar eclipse now.

Does it look better than my previous one?

I only want to stay with a "stable" layout for some time, instead of having to edit it for all the problems it causes.

I would suggest giving your classes more unique identifiers than "body" and "notepad" (perhaps attach your username or something), lest you end up interfering with someone else's/the board's stylesheet.

(note: my CSS is hella rusty, so if I'm being stupid and this isn't actually an issue, plz disregard)

Unless he creates a unique class name for the overall container and makes the CSS only affect stuff under those classes, yes, common class names like that do run the risk of interfering with other people's styles.

Late reply, but I actually don't have problems like this.

The actual problem is that I don't usually update the classes name after I change them, so having multiple layouts in one thread is not easy.

Also, test post 3 for special layout after changing class names. Result: It doesn't interfere with previous posts' layout.

Speaking of mushrooms (and bad not-pun-but-ametaphor ), it's been a week since Super Mario 3D World came out here in Europe.
Would another SM3DW layout be a good idea?
