Either coast has its problems. East has hurricanes, west has earthquakes. In the middle (somewhat) is where it's at. Not the exact middle though, plains states have tornadoes!

Rather have hurricanes than earthquakes.

The middle doesn't have a coast.

That's what's wrong with the middle.

I'd rather have minor shakes from earthquakes in CA than anything else

We don't really have any major disasters here, except for financial ones. I think the strongest earthquake we've felt was 5.0 or below and it was when the epicenter was close to the CA/NV border.

What how did I get there.

And Oregon's worse thing is rain. Sort of. The weather's been kind of wonky lately. But usually we have crazy rain storms, nothing else :x

Contrary to what some people say, the West Coast is not continuously wracked with deathly earthquakes. On the other hand, hurricanes require evacuations and tornadoes just rip up and destroy entire houses.

An earthquake may cause similar damage, but they only occur once every five years, and most of them do not deal such damage--maybe one in a hundred years.

Therefore if it is disasters you wish to avoid, the West Coast is probably the best choice. Though not entirely on the coast--there's still the occasional storm surges down there.

I'm scared of possible earthquakes, myself. I never lived in an earthquake-prone area until now, so I have no idea what to do or what to expect.

I've only evacuated for one hurricane back in '92. We drove to the west coast of Florida.

If you live on the beach, the police tend to make you leave if the hurricane is pretty bad.

I went through 3 hurricanes in 1 year back in 2004. Anya probably remembers them. The first one we were without power for 8 days.

We evacuated for one of them, I don't remember the name. It would have been super devastating had it come to shore as the category 5 that it was, but it dropped to a 3 before it reached land. One of them did something like $800k in damages to the Ashley Furniture Warehouse, I worked at one of the retails stores. Sucked for the owner, but that's what insurance is for.

I actually forgot about this because I was playing Gears 3. Then I looked at the time and saw it was 5 minutes after midnight.

I actually forgot about it, too. We started watching Madmen on Netflix and then we just watched whatever on cable. We don't do that often but it was still semi early and didn't have anything else to do/watch. By the time I remembered Jul, it was almost 10pm PST. An hour after the JCS finished. My computer was already off anyway.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
