| Does anyone remember this event? What it is, is its basically a gaming-based charity. On October 15th, participating gamers will be attempting to play 24 hours of video games in order to raise money for local children's hospitals of their choosing. I participated last year (as I believe did a few others here) and was quite pleased with the results. While this year, several friends and I have already formed a team of our own, I am coming to you all to raise awareness of this really great event. It was a total blast for me last year, and I think several people even watched the madness on Stickam the entire time! (I will be broadcasting this year as well) ... while last year I made it a point to purposely play some of the worst, weirdest or most frustrating games I could think of (solely based on the fact that it would be amusing for the viewers), this year will probably be more of a free-for-all and possibly even see more multiplayer presence as I will be having at the very least two others participating with me at my place. For west coast JUL-ers, of course this means an open door policy for the event so long as you just give me a heads up. Hell, if you're interested, come on down and we could all do it together! of course, inevitably, I should probably say that my personal donation page can be found here. Now for those not in the know so much about how this works, donations are of course 100% optional, 100% tax deductible, and 100% put towards local children's hospitals (in my case, I will be playing on behalf of Los Angeles Children's hospital) ... every amount helps, no matter how small, and I've set a personal goal this year of $500 (a full $300 higher than my goal last year...a goal I hope to surpass!) I realize October is a few months away, but I wanted to raise awareness for this now, especially in case others wish to participate as well! |
