Hello there! I'd like to share some interesting things I've found within the Wind Waker ISO.

I learned about the two beta rooms within the Tower of the Gods' folder ('Siren'), and I began to wonder if they would be able to get loaded in-game. Based on a suggestion that someone gave me, I attempted to load the rooms (Room19 and Room20) by replacing the Room#.arc with another room's .arc.

I was able to get Room20 (what seems to be a beta version of the top of the Tower) to load by grafting its file over the map file for the house nearest the watch tower on Outset, as seen below:

However, I wasn't able to get Room19, most likely a beta Boss room for the Tower, to load; Dolphin would hang upon trying to load it. Here are some screenshots I took with the program BMDview2:

While I was trying to find the final Bell Tower map, I came across two maps that shared the same aesthetics with the Bell Tower and Boss Room- Room12 and Room15. I decided to see if they would load.

As you can see, this map, Room15, spawns a beamos model that isn't used elsewhere; this Beamos is contained in Hmos.arc, and shares this file with two other Beamos body models- a redish version of the one pictured, and what seems to be a wall-mounted version (though it could just be the emitter for the yellow laser beams seen throughout the Tower of the Gods, most notably the beams protecting the Boss Key). There are two 'Heads' within the file, as well; one for the Red Beamos (which follows you with a laser) and one for the Blue Beamos (which creates a laser that blocks your path, seen in the pictures above).

Red Body

The unknown model

Blue 'Eye'

Red 'Eye'

EDIT:
I have come to the conclusion that the Beamos in these images are NOT beta; they are in fact the ones used in the game.

Along with the one seen in the latter two pictures of Room15, another statue spawns. Hitting the button does nothing within the room, though the green clouds and purple sky visible beyond where the door should be turn back to their normal colors.

The second room, Room12, contains two statues, three buttons and a large pit with a grappling hook target to the side above it:

An interesting fact is that after pressing the button to make the light bridge appear, Link begins to move slowly; it's not because of Dolphin, as the camera still moves normally. Falling into the pit causes a fade out, though it hangs right after that.

Finally, I encountered a beta version of the miniboss room:

I couldn't kill the darknut because you can't draw your sword; I believe this is a side effect of using the same Stage.arc as the original house used (It should be noted that replacing the Stage.arc with the Tower's results in the map failing to load correctly; Link falls into a void, after which it fades and hangs).

Also, in the game's Object files, there is a .arc called 'X_Tower.' It is a complete model of the finished Tower of the Gods. The odd thing is that the map used for the ocean (in the folder designated 'sea') is the same model. My theory is that the object version of the tower is the model in which the bell is rung to open the portal to Hyrule, and this giant object is spawned in the map ADMumi (glitching out of the top of the Tower brings you to a Triangle Island with the three Pearl statues stuck together). It's interesting that the beta bell tower is a stand-alone map; it may be that the developers simply took a short cut when redesigning the Tower.

It was very intriguing to learn about the forgotten stuff within the game, and I hope that this information is useful to someone.

Now this is a coincidence...

The second screenshot is from the image set that Phugolz posted in the "Wind Waker early screens" thread. Is it just me or might they be the same room?

It must be; there's little doubt about it.

Though, I have to say that it's a bit odd that Link seems to be carrying the Mirror Shield in that screen shot.

Since this is a thread about Wind Waker findings, I should mention that they left files for a map select in the game.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38216/windwaker%20map%20select%20files.zip

The entries are in Japanese and it seems to mention all the test maps/unused maps by their filename as well as what they are used for. Afaik these are in every version of Wind Waker. TP used to have these files, but the only version with these map select files is the E3 demo.

Ripped them out, cleaned them up and added (probably pretty bad) translations for a few of them: http://magicstone.de/dzd/random/ww-select.htm

Interesting how they call SubD42 "ゴルゴ13"

Out of curiosity, would anything here qualify to be added to the wiki?

Looks like I was wrong. The lack of a blue ball behind the eye really threw me off. The Beamos spawned in the room is NOT beta.

Actually, if it's any consolation, the base is slightly different.

Wow. Does anything in there look different from the versions in the actual Wind Temple? Also, how did you get the one that the wiki says won't load to... well, load?

I have no idea about any possible differences since it's been ages since I last played Wind Waker... However, to load up Cave08 in-game, use the following codes:

043C9D3C 43617665
043C9D40 30380000
043C9D44 000203FF
043C9D48 43617665
043C9D4C 30380000
043C9D50 000203FF

An extension/modification of the known level loading codes. Those here start you in the second(?) room, from which you can access the other two by going through the door behind Link - note, however, that the doors get blocked once you went through them - or fall off the level by going through the door ahead, or the openable one in the last room. Alternatively, the italic 0x02 in the codes determine the starting room, either 0x01, 0x02 or 0x03.

Modifying those codes might also allow loading up of other otherwise "unloadable" maps; ex. I'm pretty sure I got E3ROOP to load up once, complete with skybox, etc. but I can't for the life of me reproduce that <.<

Edit: The non-loading TF_07 - several doors, all blocked by metal bars; you fight several enemies in succession, after defeating the final one a chest with a Silver Rupee and the exit appear, exiting took me to the pier at Outset Island. Is this really unused? Wouldn't look out of place at some random island or something...

Updated my previous post with the translations for the full list. Lots of test stuff that looks worthy of exploring. Can the map select still be enabled, or is text the only thing that remains of it?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone could force it to load (wouldn't it just take reactivating the code, if it still exists?), but whether it would fully function is another matter. =P

Hey Xdaniel, think you could write a code to start in one of the unused Siren rooms? I would really like to get into the room that won't load, but I suppose loading the two halls with doors and all would be cool.

It might be possible to get the early room in M_dai to load, as well. How do you make those codes, exactly?

For Siren...

043C9D3C 53697265
043C9D40 6E000000
043C9D44 0000xxFF
043C9D48 53697265
043C9D4C 6E000000
043C9D50 0000xxFF

0x0C/12 -> spawn outside of room
0x0F/15 -> spawn outside of room
0x13/19 -> hangs
0x14/20 -> spawn outside of room
0x17/23 -> spawn outside of room

...and in M_Dai, I couldn't even find that unused room in-game, only the temple's normal rooms.

And as for how I make them, lines 1 and 2, as well as 4 and 5 are simply the scene name (thus ex. Siren, M_Dai, etc) in ASCII and padded with 0x00, while the 3rd and 6th lines are parameters of some kind for scene loading. The syntax for that sadly isn't the same for all levels, but often either the 2nd or 3rd byte is the room number.

Bumping for great justice:

0439AD54 00060000
0439AD5C 000001E4
0439AD6C 8039AD8C

Dark Linkaƫl posted this in Talk:Wind Waker a few hours a go. :o

This code crashes my emulator though, this next one should work though:

0439B298 00060000
0439B2A0 000001E4
0439B2AC 80378DC8
0439B2B0 8039AD8C

I would test but the COPYDATE of my copy of the game is a month older than the revision this code is intended for. :\

That is quite the impressive find! Hopefully we can get it working on emulators if that's the big problem now.

Nah, it doesn't seem to be a issue with emulators now. The code should work fine, but it seems the code is only for the PAL version of the game for the moment. :\

I remember checking each version of the game (even the timed demo versions), and everything for the map select is in every version afaik. So it should be possible to load this for every version of the game the same manner.
