I think Colin is abusing his powers.

Wait, so is there a reason that normal users can't edit their thread titles?
Did someone abuse it?

AFAIK, normals have never been able to edit thread titles for as long as I can remember...

Yeah, I guess it's just never been considered a major priority... (similar to the inability to delete threads, I guess...)

It's not something that I would want on a regular basis, but if I make a spelling mistake it might be easier. Just a thrown out idea, nothing more.

Why not allow it for like the first 30 to 60 minutes after posting? Other boards do similar for things like that...

That's a great idea! I think that something like that would be a good feature to add. Then, if for some reason the title was messed up, it could be fixed within a certain time period.

We weren't even testing for that.

Keep in mind it also has potential for abuse, which may be the reason why such a function has never been implemented.

And, of course, we never, ever abuse ANYTHING on this board, do we?

Still, both sides have good points. It would be useful, it could get out of hand. But then couldn't we just remove the privilege?

As it stands thread titles don't get changed that often (the JCS thread is an exception, of course, but it's not a problem for Colin anyway ), and on the rare occasion finding a mod or admin to do it isn't hard.

Shouldn't that be 6/4 and not 6/3, Colin?

I've seen some people abuse the birthday feature on boards before (so it was their birthday everyday or something), never did such a thing myself

I remember one April Fools joke on another board where everyone set their birthday to April 1, so you had one big birthday thread for pretty much all of the community.

That's actually kind of hilarious, Liliana. We should do that here next year.

I'm sure though, ten months later we'll all forget.

On a serious note, one of my aunts was born on April 1st. No joke!
