It's thunderstorming here in the greater Seattle area, and I'm tracking the lightning using modern technology.

Seattle has been swept with so many thunderstorms lately. It's very unusual for this region. The other day my friend drove me home and we found a huge tree downed by a lightning strike blocking the road. It sucked.

I like thunderstorms like this because they are a good time to place vintage bossa nova but it's also an indication that the climate here is, like, shifting. Which isn't cool.

I'll take them. Vegas has been very, very humid the last few days, with a few mini-storms rolling through. Nothing that actually lasts any appreciable amount of time, just enough to sprinkle for a few minutes and then piss off again.

I'd really like it to just either pour rain for a while or stop being so damn humid (and hot).

Thunderstorms are coming... oh noez!

Anyway, they say the thunderstorm will go away this night, but the rain won't and the humidity is even worse now.

Hoo boy, time to stop being lazy and buy a new umbrella. Not much time ago, some heavy wind "broke" it (it didn't help said umbrella was already broken before ).

My friend keeps getting lots of thunderstorms while I only had one in like half a year.

Today was another somewhat warm. bright sunny day. Not too hot and there's a nice breeze too!
I picked a great day to just mow. At least it wasn't too hot.

The weather's fortunately getting better now...

Yesterday I had to unplug the PC 'cause of the thunderstorms.

The sun finally returned here, but the high umidity didn't. Good.

Actually it's getting quite cloudy and only now the temperature is starting to go down.
Just a few days before you could say it's summer. Now, not so much.

Late for work today because all the streets in my neighborhood were/are flooded. It's been pouring almost continuously since yesterday evening.

It’s been super warm and dry the past few days, unusual for autumn in the Pacific Northwest, but it’s neat because I got to stomp on some crunchy leaves. 🍁 🍂 🍃

I’m supposed to see some rain tonight and tomorrow but then little precipitation for the rest of the week. It’s nice that I can start layering again and show up in sweaters and jackets. Really looking forward to the rain season’s perma-drizzle.

Man, it's been raining these days.

I still remember the other day I had to choose whether to take my huge and already broken umbrella or not. I chose to take it, and that was a good thing, since some time later the rain changed from virtually non existant (that is - it rained, but you didn't need an umbrella) to horribly heavy in less than a second. By now it's near 17°C

Today wasn't as bad, but still...

Also, somewhat related, my school has a "rule" that until the 21st October the radiator can NOT be on. As a result the differences of temperature between rooms is insane. Our is too cold for example while others are too hot.

Please, rain, give me a break.

Well, I got that break now but it ends on Monday night.

At least Sunday is rain-free all day.

Back to being sunny but still cold. It’s definitely fall now with the leaves changing color and falling off the trees. My apartment faces the mountains to the east which are usually obscured by a forest but now they’re starting to be visible.

But I want it to be raining again. I want to see fog. Where is the rain season? Of course, leave it to me to move to the cloudiest place in this country and complain that it isn’t cloudy enough.

The other day I took a bus out to North Bend just to visit the shoe store which had a 3-for-1 deal and I bought like three pairs of boots—two for me and one for my partner. Then I sprayed them down with waterproof spray. They’re making their début today, maybe.

Seems fairly breezy outside right now. Have some condensation on my windows, which probably means that it's 45 or something right now. Supposed to get into the mid 60's today.

Yesterday morning my wish for fog came true but it only makes me want it even more. Today is statistically the “foggiest day” of the year, but I don’t see any fog. My phone weather app says there should be light fog but I sure as hell don’t see any! Seriously, where is the fog!?

This page talks about how Cape Disappointment, in the extreme southwestern corner of Washington at the mouth of the Columbia River is one of the foggiest places in the United States with roughly 2,552 hours of fog a year. But here? The amount of fog is insufficient right now!

Maybe I’ll get what I wanted and find out that for the next eight months Seattle will be shrouded in a dense low-lying stratus and everyone will be like, “you should have been careful of what you wished for, Sofi,” but I’d be like, “I’m not complaining!”

As much as I love stunning views of Mount Rainier on a clear day in the Puget Sound (although the other day we were shrouded in mist—a fairly common occurrence, actually—but this time it was thin enough for Mount Rainier to be visible and it never looked more majestic and ominous), I want the “gloom” to happen already! I want to be decked out in flannel and sweaters and hoodies and trenchcoats and peacoats, feeling like I’m in a moody future-noir film.

I get it—it’s über-beautiful here in the summer when it’s so dry that the grass begins to turn yellow. But I moved here knowing it’s supposed to rain almost every single day and I want that, dammit! #cuddleweather

I think your fog just travelled to Europe then.

It might just be a coincidence, but this morning there was a huge amount of fog. I almost felt like I was in Superman 64. It was also very humid so I brought my umbrella. It's been a while since the last time some heavy fog came in.

And now?

Now the fog is gone. It may be in Asia.

It didn't rain at all, which is interesting considering it pratically rained non-stop these days, so I brought my umbrella for nothing.

And now it suddenly dropped to being cold and foggy every day. Can I get a “hell yeah”?

It came just in time for me to start wearing my hoodie and my leather jacket. Forget you, Christmas—this is the most wonderful time of the year. All it needs now is for it to start raining again and everything will be set. When the time comes, I’d say, “No more need for Rainy Mood™—rain is in the air.”
