As you might have guessed, this hack will largely revolve around playing along with a clone by your side.
Compared to my other hack, "New Super Mario Bros. 2", this one will be a ton better. My level designing skills have improved so much and I have taken into account all of NSMB2's criticisms.
Some of the new features already put in this hack are:
-False Endings (Think Cheese Bridge)
-Airships
-Clones
-New Music (Using the NSMB sound & music hack 1.5)
-World 8 is no longer spooky-themed. You'll find out the theme later.
-NSMB Wii Tilesets
-Unused Objects
And I'll leave some surprises!

PROGRESS LIST:
World 1: 100% Complete (1-A has a bug which will be fixed in a later release.)
World 2: 0% Complete
World 3: 0% Complete
World 4: 5% Complete
World 5: 0% Complete
World 6: 0% Complete
World 7: 75% Complete
World 8: 10% Complete
OVERALL PROGRESS: 23.75% Complete.

A world 1 demo is available, but you need to pm me if you want it, however, I will only give it to you if i know i can trust you not to leak it.

I don't have anything to show yet because i currently don't have a good working screen recorder. aside from that, i have a very limited bandwidth until the 27th, so uploading a video to youtube is pretty much impossible at the moment.

But before the end of the month you should see the first preview.

However I do have a trailer from when it was called NSMB3 and I never showed it to the public, but I think it would be a waste of time/bandwidth to upload it because it looked very crappy anyway.

I don't see why you absolutely must have New Super Mario Bros. 5 as your title, as it is hardly original, it apparently has nothing to do with either #3 or #4, and you already have a perfectly decent subtitle to use.

I mean, at this point, what's the difference between having 5 or 6 or 7 in your title? Even at the risk of getting your title "stolen" again, I think you should have at least waited until you had something to show for it before you made any announcements.

I also don't see anything wrong with New Super Mario Bros.: Clone Tag Team (aside from the length) or New Super Mario Bros. 2: Clone Tag Team (since you apparently hold the claim to #2), so why didn't you just go with either of those?


P.S. The only reason I'm being so critical over such an ultimately small detail is that your title is the only thing you left me to comment on.

i think he wants to have the title "New Super Mario Bros. 5", because in NSMB hacking it is not that easy to change the title everytime.

For example: If he has already hacked the title screen of NSMB (that is a shit-work-.-) and has not released his hack yet and then someone other takes the name, he has to rehack the titlescreen again (another shit-work^^)

I have put together a video that I am going to upload to youtube in a couple days, then this thread can get back on topic, I hope. Because it's really not about the name of the hack.

@NsmB_Pro yeah, that is one particular reason i don't want to change the name again.
@The Red Snifit I see your point, but it has no relation to #3 and #4 because they were done by completely different hackers than I, and I still wanted this game to be a sequel to #2.

And just to clarify, I never said the word 'stolen'. SKJmin and 0249Alex both claimed their titles first so the rules of fairness makes it rightfully theirs to have used.

You're vague on your "false endings" comment. If it's some sort of Kaizo-esque trap, I don't see why you haven't removed it already.

Well, if clone levels are done well, they can be bug-less, and they can be very fun. Look at this one I made some time ago:

The key to make that level playable is to use sprite 276 with data "0000 0000 0010". It makes the camera only go forward, so your clone can't go out of the left of the screen.
Also, it's not possible to "loose" your clone, when your clone dies, the level exits immediately as if you had died.

No, the clone's not needed to complete any level, they're just there to help out with some things that would be harder alone, while making general gameplay more challenging.
If you don't want to have a clone just play as luigi. the clone will not appear.

As for the false endings, well, think about the cheese bridge in super mario world.

well, NSMB2 took a whole year to release, and in retrospect that hack was quite lazily made. However, I have finished world one and most of world seven, and i'm just beginning on world two and four.
