What the heck is FLUFF, look at the filesize (or better question: what are most of those files, they're tiny!)

EDIT: OK it looks like that's just the executable... that said, huh?

Am I missing something? (probably...)

You really need to mention that you found the Aqua Font on the wiki if that was legit.

in the past, i was also discovered aqua file in mkt pc version but since it was a file with a date 1993 (one year after the release of mk2 i think) i suppose it is just a fake file who dropped into the fighters folder and uploaded to the internet. a lot of years have passed and only a few ISOs of the game survived and reuploaded to many sites. some of them include this aqua file and some others not.

maybe if someone have the original disk of MKT PC version can check if this file is included or not and resolve the mystery of this file...

until now, we have a fake sound, fake ending, fake images and probably fake megagraph file of the fake character aqua.

check into the disk of original pc version to find out if this aqua file exist or not. this will solve the mystery at all

Somebody managed to figure out how to dig into the graphics of MK1 and MK2.

It's spread out over a couple of pages. If I get some time later I'll add in the highlight things of note. I tried sending this guy a PM since I've had an account over on that site since back in the days when it was mk5.org, but I have yet to hear back from him (mostly because I just sent the PM today).

If he knows how to dig through the graphics, then this ought to get really, really interesting, if these pieces are any indication.

Did anything every come of this? I'm looking for a way to view/extract images from the original Mortal Kombat arcade romset.

Just noticed on the Mortal Kombat Trilogy talk page (https://tcrf.net/Talk:Mortal_Kombat_Trilogy_%28PlayStation%29) earlier this year someone mentioned the Aqua screenshot supposedly in the "Beat 'Em Up Special 1999" of Official UK Playstation Magazine, claiming they own a physical copy of this exact magazine and that the Aqua screenshots and text where it mentions him (which are seen in a "scan" circulating the net) are NOT actually present in his physical copy.

I just wanted to say I also now own a physical copy of this exact magazine myself, and agree with the talk page poster - there is NO screenshot of Aqua in my physical copy, NOR is there any mention of him in the text. Presumably the "scan" with Aqua floating around the net was simply doctored. Also as more proof it's fake, in the supposed scan including Aqua, the extra line of text does not line up with the bottom of the screenshots - in the real issue, the screenshots accompanying ALL the articles in this section of the magazine (including the MKT one) DO line up with the text.

So to confirm, this "scan" does NOT match my physical copy - http://tabmok99.mortalkombatonline.com/opmukaquilluxborg.jpg

And this scan DOES match my physical copy - http://i.imgur.com/dgZT2tL.jpg

It remains to be investigated whether the screenshot of Aqua's Ending supposedly in the Australian "Official Playstation Collector's Edition" Magazine from 2000 is actually in there or not. This magazine seems pretty elusive to find though. Pic - http://tabmok99.mortalkombatonline.com/mktaquaproof.jpg

And of course, it is still a mystery exactly where the "Aqua Wins" soundfile floating around actually came from. I could have sworn I found it on a MKT disc once a long time ago. But I cannot remember which version I found it on or how or where I found it. I've spent a huge amount of time trying to find it again, but always come up empty handed, which is creating serious doubt in my mind as to whether I imagined the time I did find it. It's so strange. I cannot promise my memory is correct that I once found it, but I swear I am being sincere and truthful in my claim that I *THINK* I did once find it.

probably the guys behind that aqua prank throwed the aqua files they created into some psx mkt.iso, pc mkt iso and then they uploaded to the internet.

the question for me is: how the hell did they create the aqua sound file? that was very cool and maybe useful to hack the game and add new characters

Could someone who works on the wiki do an edit on the Mortal Kombat Trilogy PS1 page to make it clear it has NOT been verified where the "Aqua Wins" soundfile came from? The wiki is worded like it's a fact that it's on some UK version of the game, but this is just a rumor. Several people, myself included, have spent a lot of time trying to find the "Aqua Wins" soundfile on multiple versions of MKT but have not been able to find it anywhere.

It should be on the "todo" list to try and pin down the exact version of the game it is found, and whereabouts in the data files. Until then it's just an unproven rumor.

These are the lines on the wiki which should be improved:

"There exists a sound clip in the UK version of the game saying "Aqua Wins""

"As the sound file is found in the UK version of the game, it is likely the character was meant for UK only."

Also the wiki needs a new page for the PC version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

Well, that sound clip of Aqua wins sounds legit, so where could it have come from?

Possibly syllables from other winquotes? "A" from "Sheeva, Sonya", "Q" from "Kung Lao" and so forth.

Edit:

After listening to the soundbyte, yes, that is how they did it.

A from Sonya/Sheeva, most likely Sheeva with how harsh it sounds,
Q from anyone with a K, most likely Shao Khan or Baraka
U from "Round One"
A from Sonya/Sheeva, most likely Sonya, as it's softer.

I did you one better and removed the section entirely. Stupid rumors and hoaxes have no place on TCRF.

Good thinking, thanks.

As stated previously I have vague memories of finding the "Aqua Wins" soundclip on an actual MKT disc, but as I have not been able to re-find it since (despite many hours of detailed searching with various tools over multiple versions), I can only put it down to remembering incorrectly. Until me or anyone else is able to pin down exactly where it is and PROVE it, I agree it should not be listed.

And again, when searching around I was not able to find any other evidence of Aqua either (ending text, ending picture, character sprites, text mentions, etc) - I thoroughly investigated EVERY Aqua rumor I could find mentioned anywhere.

The file named "Aqua" on the PC version of MKT is the only thing close to evidence we have found, but we have yet to decipher what the file is or why the date is so different to the other files in that directory.

everyone out there can add any file to a mkt psx iso, then drop it to the internet

the question is: do you remember yourself try to examine an original psx mkt cd and find aqua remnants?

Don't forget that the MK team has always had a blast trolling the fanbase sticking things like there for people to try to investigate and raise questions about. Their favorite herring color is red.

Just sayin'.

My vague memories of finding the Aqua Wins soundclip definetely were of finding it on a physical and original disc that I owned. It definitely would NOT have been a downloaded version or even a copied disc.

So with that in mind, IF I really did find the soundfile, it would have been on an original physical PAL format PS1 disc or a PC disc.

Yeh, it is so strange that I have this memory of finding the soundfile. I thought it was one of the PS1 PAL versions (probably the Platinum version or Greatest Hits version), and I think I used PSSound to find it. What I cannot explain is why I can't find it again, no matter what version I try or what program I use, I come up with nothing!

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the PC version. But it is possible.

so you must find the same disk. if it is inside your house, it's worth to search for it. if you borrowed it from an old friend, contact him immediately and search his house

but we have so many clues that it's a fake character... i believe it's just imagination than real memory

I sold the disc and have no way of tracing it, nor can I recall where I got it, sorry. Yeh as I have tried to find it again and failed, the only conclusion I can draw is that I am remembering wrong.

The question here is: are you 100% sure it was an original disc and not a copied one? (I've had my fair share of "original" discs that simply turned out to be well done copies) Because if you aren't sure, for all we know it was a copied disc made from a modified ISO.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
