Here's a promo video with a few beta things in it. If you look in the background at 0:44 you can see some statues that are unused in the final version. There's also alot of P2 color palettes used in non mirror matches.

Also, the logo is still on Cage's trousers (2:18)

That video shows a Rocky level. My guess it is the Rocky level found earlier so I noted it on the wiki.

Some interesting information in this thread (I only skimmed through it). I was hacking Mythologies off-and-on not too long ago. I'll share what I found soon. In the meantime, here are GameShark codes that other hackers and I made for the PS1 version of MKII (a lot of new codes were added a few days ago).

If you want to use the secret character codes, you will need to use Dr. Hell's Action Replay GPU Wrapper 1.05 plugin (easier to setup than CEP, if not a user of the pSX and Xebra/Arbex emulators), which can be found here. This is necessary since PEC doesn't support GameShark 2.2+ commands (except the "Patch Code" command).

I forgot to post the link to the new PS1 Mythologies codes. The "DIFF" option in the character select menu is for the game difficulty.

Well, this site isn't really about infinite HP or MP codes, but unused content in games. I'm curious about the ball breaker move. How do the girls react when hit with it? Does it trigger a animation? Wondering how it works on bosses too. Also, I see you made Inf MP codes for MK Mythologies. How did you do it? I tried it before and I think that code went unhacked for years.

It puts women in an infinite reaction loop, I'm not sure about bosses.

Has anyone tried to hack Mortal kombat Special Forces. I've been looking at that game for years and a hex editor reveals a whole load of stuff cut from the game, like Raiden and Shang Tsung. But I've never been able to get any further. I've tried changing the names and swapping content, but no luck on loading any unused characters or stages. Any thoughts?

The bosses get hit as if it was a normal attack. They can even block it.

I'll check the game some time in the week. What are the contents of the disc? You can drop the executable in PS2DIS, and go from there.

Update: Here are some codes to play around with.

Thanks for the codes. I had a look at the Level Select, but there wasn't anything new there. There are a number of other levels listed in the game's coding, although I don't know if any exist in the final game. Here's some of the info I posted in a guide on my website:

canyon - Canyon
cavern - Cavern
club - Club
dock - Dock
fight - Boss level?
garage - Garage
gateboss – Gate Boss (Tremor)
gateway - Gateway to Outworld
hksewer – Hong Kong Sewer
hotel - Hotel
kashgar – City in China
office - Office
office2 - Office
outwboss - Outworld Boss
outworld - Outworld
outwrld2 – Outworld
outwrld3 - Outworld
prison - Prison
resort - Resort
sewer - Sewer
sewer2 - Sewer
sewer3 - Sewer
sewerbos – Sewer Boss (Tasia)
skiang – Sin Kiang
sksewer – Sin Kiang Sewer
smugg - Smuggling?
tower - Tower
tunnels - Tunnels
whs2 - Warehouse
whs3 - Warehouse
whs4 - Warehouse

Of greater interest are the deleted characters:

Here, you can see an extract from the SF.CDF file, where the names of Raiden and Shang Tsung are mentioned. Do these indicate skins for the character models? The following screenshot seems to show actual data for the Raiden character model:

I looked at a lot of the other characters and they have similar entries. So the question is: is it possible to resurrect these deleted characters?

Well, by forum I meant the cutting room floor section of the forum. Anyway, in early development of MKSF's Sonya was revealed as a playable character. You should check and see if there's any remnants of that. Also, if you can find a early version of the EU MK Trilogy iso, you should check if Aqua has a bio. Theres a set of pics and a video online that claims to be his ending. The soundclip "Aqua Wins" is in early versions of MK Trilogy so it'd be interesting to see if there's anything else about Aqua in that game.

Also, one time I put in the first version of MK Trilogy and while the game was loading it black screened and started playing sound clips. I could hear various character names being spoken followed by "shows mercy". Someone should rip the sound files from the game and see if there are any more unused sound clips. In this game when you use Mercy it just shows the logo and plays no voice clips.

From what I found, there may be as many as three different versions of Sonya.

Ah, that explains why I saw her name in the coding. Thanks for the info! Can you link me to said pics and video? I have v1.1 of Trilogy (NTSC). It's weird that BIO is in the European version. I'll look at Trilogy ASAP (I stopped and never started again).

We meet again!

I noticed those level listings; they have a .map extension. I tried changing the .skn files, too (tried Jax and No Face). The level will refuse to load if you do. Go to memory address 8009D948 for Jax (default skin). That address holds the value for his .skn file (800112E4). I didn't muck around with the data there much, so it might be possible to change him.

I did find something new, though: a new button cheat. The new cheat allows you to view all of the movies. Go to the "Game Settings" menu, and press Up, Down, Left, Right, R1, R2, R1, R2. The button cheats are stored in the routine located at 800143BC (open the SLUS file in PS2DIS and jump to said address). These are the locations for each button cheat (MIPS knowledge necessary):

They use Normal Joker command values.

Refill Energy Cheat START: 800143EC
Refill Energy Cheat END: 8001445C

Play All Movies Cheat START: 80014488
Play All Movies Cheat END: 80014500

Cheats Option START: 80014518
Cheats Option END: 80014588

Well, Aqua stuff may only be in early EU versions of MK Trilogy. A pic of him was featured in 2 EU magazines. The Aqua Wins voice clip was said to be found in a early version of EU MK Trilogy. So he was probably gonna be EU exclusive but they decided not to use him. I posted all the info I know on the MK Trilogy PS1 wiki article.

This is the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK_-Dvbuago

Cant find the MK website that had the pics, but the pics are also at this link:

I've tried to replace MKSF bosses and regular enemies with the deleted characters, but the levels still fail to load. Then I thought I'd turn it on its head and follow one of Mythbusters' ideas: try a control. I replaced No Face with one of the grunt characters (tguard) that I know is already in the game The level failed to load even with a regular game character. So it may not be that the deleted characters lack the relevant files, but there's something else I'm missing.

I'll have a look at the Jax memory address a little later.

Edit: Just to clarify, I tried replacing "noface" with "tguard", using a hex editor. I didn't do this for every instance, only those that seemed to relate specifically to his level.

Hi everyone, just joined the site. I'm no expert at hacking but I do have a little knowledge, and I've found a few Mortal Kombat things via Hex editors which I can't see listed anywhere on the main TCRF site. If someone wants to reformat/retype any of this onto the main site, please feel free:

Mortal Kombat (Game Boy)
-First some background info: When you do the cheat code to play as Goro, it changes the names of fighters in the game:
Kano>Bob, Liu Kang>Carl, Rayden>Eric, Scorpion>Peter, Shang Tsung>Eddy, Sonya>Fergus, Sub-Zero>Gary, and it also changes "Battle Plan" to "Brittle Plum".
ANYWAY - the interesting point here, is I noticed in the hex code, there is another name at the top of the used ones - Jean (at 00001AB3). I can't see that this one is used anywhere in the game or the credits, and it's interesting to note that Johnny Cage was not featured in MK1 on the Game Boy. So, knowing that the character Johnny Cage was inspired by Jean Claude Van Damme, one could speculate that the unused "Jean" name could have been intended as Johnny Cage's replacement name, were he not removed from the game. Or it could be just a coincidence of course, and be nothing to do with Johnny Cage or JCVD. Goro's name isn't replaced with the cheat, but his name is still listed again with the other fake names, so it's unlikely "Jean" was meant for Goro.

Mortal Kombat II (Game Gear)
-I found some text saying "Welcome To The Fantasy Zone" (at 00015FFA and 00016009) and "Get Ready" next to it (at 00016017), which from a quick google search I would assume is a reference to the 1980s Sega game Space Harrier, although I haven't played it myself.

Mortal Kombat II (Arcade)
-Regarding "Shawn Attacks" on the audit menu, this is already listed on the main TCRF site, but next to it, it says "Who knows? Doesn't seem to be any Shawns listed in the credits." - I just wanted to point out that this statement is incorrect. I don't know who wrote this, but the arcade version clearly lists "Shawn Liptak" in the credits, under "Special Thanks To". It can be seen in this video around 9:17 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMn5y_bvm9A . Obviously what "Shawn Attacks" actually means or whether it refers to this Shawn Liptak or not is anyone's guess. But there is indeed a Shawn listed in the credits anyway.

Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade)
-Just a small point, but the unused bell sprite in the belltower stage was used in the Beta version of the game, as seen in videos of the Beta version, such as the one entitled "The Year We Make Contact" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IR6nzVOl1Q . Probably worth noting on the main TCRF site.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Playstation)
-I was curious about the rumored character "Aqua" so I did some comprehensive digging through the NTSC version of MKT and both PAL versions of MKT. I used hex editors, tile viewers and 2 audio extractor programs, and the results I found were that nothing of Aqua is actually inside the game data. The text supposedly from his ending is nowhere on the game disc, neither is any other mention of "Aqua" or "Aquilluxborg Hydroxybot" or "Aquilloxborg Hydroxybot" (another spelling variant I've seen used) and neither is the picture supposedly used in his ending. And I cannot find the soundfile either.

That's all for now, but I'll post more later if I find/think of anything else.

well... it is very important for me to know which version of PAL MKT includes the rumored "Aqua Wins" sound. it is very easy to find out which version you have. just go to the files of the cd, then right click into TRILOGY.EXE, then properties and share with us the modified date.

i have a question for you... how exactly did you find a sound file with a hex editor and tile editor??

im sure this char is fake. the old magazine images are fake too... compare the legs from Aqua and Scorpion and you will find that they have the same legs! Yes! Aqua is nothing more but an custom sprite of Scorpion

okay you are right here.. but the myth says the hidden aqua ending have been found in a UK platinum version of MKT... wait a second.. UK version?? i though they exist only PAL, NTSC and JAPAN versions... not a unique UK..

MKT PSX have five different versions. nothing more, nothing less:
1) NTSC v1.0 with id SLUS-00330
2) PAL v1.1 with id SLES-00528 (this version is an update of the first NTSC 1.0. you will find this version as PAL 1.0 but it is wrong. the truth is that PAL 1.0 never exist. "platinum" use this version)
3) NTSC v1.1 with id SLUS-00330 (released under the name "Greatest Hits". same as PAL 1.1)
4) JAPAN with id SLPS-00791 (this version is an update of 1.1)
5) PAL v1.2 with id SLES-02509 (you will find this version as PAL 1.1, "early", "beta", "broken" mkt but this actualy IS the final version of mkt. released under the name "Midway Classics")

i search with a hex editor in every version of PSX MKT. not a single word of Aqua

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
