I was just over at Barnes & Noble and purchased a copy of American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis and when I came home I noticed the last topic about what books you're reading is from 2009! So I wanted to rectify this.

Oh...why's that?

I started reading American Psycho and I'm really enjoying the prose style. I've read like a third of Bret Easton Ellis's earlier book, Less Than Zero, which I had really enjoyed too. I think I'm a huge fan of the really long sentences thing he does, which also happens to be why I found David Foster Wallace's writing so enjoyable!

I have my sister's "Alchemist" series to read, and then the "Magyck" series or whatever it was called, too. I tend to get sidetracked from book reading so easily that I have a lot of books I wish to read, yet never have.

Just restarted the wonderful Desden Files series over again. I love a well developed world and great urbal fantasy story.

I had been reading a lot about 6 to 7 months ago. Up to that time, I'd read about 30 books over the course of a year (not a huge number but they were pretty lengthy novels). Most of them were in the Magician series by Raymond E. Feist. He's a really good fantasy novelist, his characters suck you in because there are so many of them but since they are all from a flowing lineage you seem to know every generation. The book that I stopped on was set about 300 years after the original book that started the series. The main character Pug, a magician, and his friend Thomas are the only ones that have carried through the years by magical means, but others came along that were also long lived. I need to go get the next few books in the series. I was almost done but didn't get them so I stopped and haven't really read anything since. Before I started those, I had re-read all the Harry Potter books.

I'm almost tempted to download the next Feist book in the series on my iPhone but I'd rather have a physical copy. I'd only read e-books on a larger format like and iPad or Kindle (neither of which I have).

It's not the same, though I've tried. There's just something about holding a book and feeling one in your hands. I am not a huge huge huge fan of ebooks/downloading anything (b/c I'm an old woman and set in my ways, probably).

I did Spring Cleaning this weekend though and I'm giving away/donating a TON of books to Goodwill, and I have SO much more space. So I think eventually I'll come around to the Kindle/whatever format.

Much of the books I've read in college I've liked, but I've overdone it so much that I"m just taking a reading break. Was trying to read Huck Finn for a bit, but yeah.

Surprisingly, there's a LOT of classic lit that I have yet to read that I should. However, I jumped into my major late and my school sucked for going over classic lit. I'm kinda glad about not doing Moby Dick though. Herman Melville is just really, really dense material.

I did enjoy the short story "Bartleby, The Scrivener", though. If you would prefer not to read it though, I would understand.

It was heavily advised that I bring a book along to read when I had to do my shifts at school, so I decided on finally getting through High Rhulain. Since I heard Brian Jacques died, I kinda realized how I just stopped reading his books. Maybe it was just that I grew out of them, the books got formulaic and almost predictable, or that the last book I read was a hardback with no scent at all. But yeah, I actually got around to finishing it, and will get to the last Redwall book I got before trying to find the rest of the series I don't have, read them, and read the last book that'll likely be published, The Rogue Crew.

I guess I have a desire of finishing the series. I loved reading them when I was 10, though I only read the first book multiple of times (and Legend of Luke I believe, as I loved the uniqueness of the story itself).

I second this motion. I picked this up for 25 cents at a library book sale and I have read it 3 times, each repitition is just as fulfilling as the first. READ THIS BOOK!
