Thanks, but for me, put up a new thread is easier then put a reply about it in a main thread.
Here, because a obscure prototype like, let's call it "Roll in MegaMan 2", can get lost easily in the Prototypes thread, especialy if it's big like THAT.

Sorry for double-post, but:

WoodMan's stage had blocky bushes. You could even walk on them!
Also, thanks to Auto from The Mechanical Maniacs for some of the RobotMaster'searly names:
MissileMan (CrashMan/ClashMan)
WaterMan (BubbleMan)
BoomerangMan (QuickMan)
RollingMan (MetalMan)

Edit1: That image script (img src = *link*) fails for me...
Edit2: (img*link*/img) just loads emptiness. At least there are no errors (the x-cube).

The image didn't work because that site disabled hotlinking. Just provide a normal URL for people to click on if that happens.

Also, where did "Auto" get his info? Do you have a link? All you've posted so far is a bunch of second-hand "information" and a blurry magazine screenshot. I'm considering this all to be speculation until I see some proof.

Don't even get me started on The Mehanical Maniacs. Their Mega Man "mysteries" pages are some of the biggest loads of horse crap I've ever seen. The sheer amount of rampant speculation there is ridiculous.

R20 is an official artbook that came out in Japan celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary. It contains official artwork from nearly every game in the Classic and X series that was out at the time and has some commentary from Inafune and the artists who drew the stuff. The book was split up into two parts and released in America as Mega Man: Official Complete Works and Mega Man X: Official Complete Works.

Auto's probably someone who gave them the heads-up about the info, but it's also the name of the green robot you buy stuff from (and was introduced) in MM7.

Or were those rhetorical questions?

Honestly, the main reason I have doubts about this name thing is that I can't imagine these fitting well into the level select screen... (especially Boomerangman...)

I've never heard anything about a Rockman 2 prototype with Roll as a playable character, and a quick Google search for "Roll in Rockman 2" didn't bring up anything noteworthy. I think maybe this guy was just joking around (kinda like asking someone to look for the Super Mario 64 prototype with a playable Luigi).

I remember reading way back about Roll being playable in Mega Man 2, but the info I read about it made it seem like it was scrapped before they ever managed to implant it (IIRC the reason was that the upper management felt that a game that would let you play as a girl wouldn't sell as well as one that would let you play only as a guy).

Maybe they'd considered it (yeah, I know - reaching speculation) as one of those generic 'girl character' routines where Roll would be just a red palette swap of Rockman/Megaman. Heck, for all I know, that could've somehow led to Protoman.
