While I appreciate the attempt to help, things like this shall be dealt with in the stickies (mostly) from now on. -Metal_Man88

Alright, I'm making this thread, because I find too many of the posted SM64 hacks to be nothing but random.
I advise everyone to go and try to be creative, as in when you mod a level, it should be better then what you started out with, but without the utter randomness, it's been done too many times, and it just isn't that great.
Also, I already know TT64 is still limited, but that is no excuse to have flying pipes, badly placed doors, hovering gates/bars, bad grammar in hacks, and slides with nothing but an army of one common enemy added in.
What should be done in a hack instead?

Well for one, Behaviours for objects would make sence/work perfectly.
Object Positions would be logical, and work for the level, as in gameplay and style.
If you want to do something odd, do it, but make it fun, a good example is the flying bowser puzzle, even though the hack itself was not good, that one part was fun and it worked nicly in my opinion.
Overall, it would be as if you made a attempt to make a Mario 64 Masterquest.

I do not intend to insult anyone, but simply point out that they can do better, be creative, make something that stands out.
If this thread makes at least one good hack appear, then I at least made one small difference for the better.

Wrong Thread?
Anyways, Try Imageshack, simply give it the area of your computer, where a image is, then press a button and wait.

Agreed. I hate simple level edits.

I don't know if anybody has seen this, but a guy named Crash dance22 has made an awesome hack! It's called Super Mario Kindergarten (I think) and its video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRKdkAGx-10

Edit: That's weird, whenever I typed Crash dance22 without spaces it says CrashDunce22. Is this a glitch or something?

Let's just say we've had a little history with Crash Dance22 / CrashDunce22 a while back, which is why his name was filtered for lolz.

Edit: After watching the video, it's actually pretty creative. Can't say I ever expected it from this guy, but I gotta give him credit. It's an interesting concept, and it looks like he's actually putting a lot of effort into it so it's not just random edits everywhere.

Unfortunately, the video editing was freakin' annoying. Half the time you can't see the hack because of the stupid text constantly covering the screen that most of the time you can't even read and don't even care to read anyway, and the part with that sepia tone added made it practically impossible to see the hack at all. At first I thought it WAS just a bunch of crappy random enemies strung everywhere that he tried to make look cool by adding a bunch of video effects.

So the hack itself is cool, but he needs to make sure that if he wants to do a little video editing to show it off, that it doesn't take away from the hack. In this case, I would have preferred just a straight up game play video, and it would have worked a lot better.

I agree. But I don't like to edit more than the castle grounds for I'm afraid I'll mess up the whole level and make it impossible. I have a sinister mind to make it hard. (and impossible)

Well he's a famous video creator, and I think he made that video to add a storyline to it, not just to show off the hack. That's what he mainly does all the time, although he does provide download links to PPF patches. If you want a better look at the hack you could try that. The link's in the description.

I wonder if this applies to my hack.

What Matthew Coburn has to say on this topic...
****It's just that us hackers look down on random hacks and mutter comments to ourselves. I'll not going to post any examples of the comments here, but it's no use making a Goomba GIGA-sized that is using Bowser's behaviour, for instance.

At least use some brains, when hacking. Sure, you can show off your vid of the random hack, but don't expect it to be getting thumbs up when it's like a edited level stuck together with chewing gum.

I'm just stating my point of view.

I've heard quite a few stories about Crash dance22 and this forum. I'd like to know a little more about what happened here and WHY he was banned.

This is not the place to discuss these things. Just look him up in the memberlist and check his old posts for yourself if you're curious.
