Enjoy watching the shuttle launch Anya! Just be prepared to have your ears ring, the rocket can still be very loud even at a far distance.

I watched the live feed from the Discovery launch. There was a no-go from one system and the mission was almost scrubbed. Up to the last 15 seconds, they got a go and resumed countdown at 5 minutes. It was cool to watch and listen all the chatter between the stations.

Somehow I managed to read this thread title as 'Anna is watching Discovery Channel for the final time today!'

This saddens me, knowing there is an Anna among us who has yet to experience the Discovery Channel. This poor, poor girl, she has yet to discover the delights of busting myths, Bear Grylls, watching wild beasts in combat or... wildlife mating.

We do have an Anna here, although I have no idea whether she has seen the Discovery Channel.

Palindromemordnilap.

I think that should be the new word for a palindromemordnilap, because then the word "palindromemordnilap" would also be itself a palindromemordnilap.

In that case, how about we ward off pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis and hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliaphobia at the same time? Just go to the Welsh village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and try a plate of lopadotemachoselachogaleokranioipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilphioparaomelitokatakechymenokichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptekephalliokigklopeleiolagoiosiraiobaphetraganopterygon and voilà, your pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis goes away, thanks to floccinaucinihilipilification.

Okay, a Welsh village name clearly hardly counts as English, and that dish's name is too long to Google.

Nobody said the words had to be English. In fact, every single one of the Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft agreed that words in any language would work.

What do a bunch of Danube riverboat types have to do with anything?

Coincidentally, this is how biologists (or maybe chemists?) rob banks- "Nobody move, put the money in the bag, or I'll say the full chemical name of titin!"
