GoldS is currently working on that Rockman X3 prototype article, by the way. So, I'd expect an article on that by the end of the year.

PtoPOnline seems to have a few prototypes that probably aren't available elsewhere - but some are Patreon-only.

Do you have a source for this or are you just talking about something you have no knowledge of

I believe that you have failed to do proper research as PtoPOnline has only posted videos on their Patreon page and never any prototype releases.

That is why I said "seems". I don't have access to the Patreon posts, so I can't determine if they actually have any content that isn't available elsewhere.

I havent been releasing a whole lot lately. But there are some things newly out there, like the PN03 Gamecube prototype I have. Releasing things has gotten me into legal trouble, so Im very very careful nowadays about what I put out there. Theres a lot of neat stuff coming in due time, but I have literal terabytes worth of data to dump from tapes and other media. A lot of it contains sensitive information like passport scans and all sorts of things from developers, so it isn't quite as easy as just dumping it all online.

Cool! It's good that you're making sure not to leak something that can get another person in trouble.

Sensitive information aside, you can always upload the prototypes to any free file uploading service and point towards them through new "anonymous" accounts at any message board.

Anonymous doesn't exist, trust me. If a company cares, they will get to you. One look at the way governments are collecting information should be a clue. This isn't a theory either, its something that has happened to people I know.

I've been doing this prototype thing for 10+ years now. If a company is out of business, its a bit different than if its a company that exists in some form or is a popular license. I give everyone props when the release things, and I happily donate my money to them as well, but there's a risk vs reward thing now for me, and the risks are becoming high. It also will hurt things when the legal efforts start to take shape, like they have been lately.

Good things are coming though

BTW, I heard some guy at SonicRetro has released a very early build of Sonic Unleashed.

How early, you ask? Well, it still has the Mazuri level layout from the trailer and it's seperated into two discs.

Sadly, only the first disc was found and dumped...

Might've missed this before, but apparently Natsume has been bringing a beta version of Wild Guns with them along with their new remake to conventions and stuff this past year.

Was searching eBay today for random prototypes. Don't get too excited until you read the page listing but there is some sort of menu prototype of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. Below is the listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zelda-Oracle-of-Seasons-Menu-demo-testing-cartridge-no-play-Nintendo-Prototype-/332119979169?hash=item4d53e4b4a1:g:awEAAOSwCU1YnLes

How, the seller claims that the "game" is just a menu test. It will boot the intro, allow you to type in your name and then nothing else. The obvious question is, is this prototype worth anything? I find it a little strange that this appears to just be a menu test. Part of me wonders if perhaps the game itself is corrupted and doesn't allow you to proceed but that is just a guess on my part. On top of that, it's difficult to say what stage this prototype is in. For all we know, this is just a corrupt final European version of OoS thrown onto a proto cart.

TL;DR

It's definitely a European localization prototype, which are usually not worth much, if anything.

That seller's German Pokemon Silver prototype cart might be interesting - maybe a localization prototype, but also a demo build of sorts? -, but holy crap at the price.

Yeah, these prices could choke a horse. It's a lot of money for an uncertain/low amount of gain.

Hey guys (ehw here from HPZ). I noticed you guys were documenting some of the prototypes that were released over the past few months on Hidden Palace so I wanted to paste the ones that were recently released here so more people could check it out:

http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(Early_Prototype)
The title screen is completely different, animations are either unfinished or different all together, each level is unfinished save for the first, music differences, rough “wireframe” models of animated sprites, and more.

http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(v.21_prototype)
This build contains many aesthetic differences, such as different object placement, an even more difficult version of the second level, unfinished bonus stages, and an unfinished version of the last level (the fight with Scar).

And speaking of Lion King, if you haven’t seen it yet, a prototype was released on ASSEMBler not too long ago. It’s the latest of the bunch but it still has some differences.

http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(v.48_prototype)

I also wanted to ask if maybe perhaps it would be best to have a thread specifically for Hidden Palace releases instead of flooding this one? There's going to be a lot to shift through in the near future, but it's up to you.

I also wanted to say thanks for all the write ups you guys made so far. Wherever possible, I try to reference the articles on TCRF on the prototype's wiki entry on HPZ. If you guys make some more based on the releases I'll keep referencing them on the site.

There are a few prototypes that have been documented on TCRF but aren't yet mentioned on Hidden Palace:
Dynamite Headdy (Jun 14, Jun 16, and Jun 22 prototypes, as well as an earlier April prototype that was leaked ages ago but doesn't have a page on the Hidden Palace wiki yet)
Gunstar Heroes prototype (Not a Hidden Palace release, but still)
Ristar (Jul 1, 1994, Jul 18, 1994, Aug 12, 1994, and Aug 26, 1994 prototypes)
Rockman 7 Sample (I don't know when this was dumped)
Shining Force II (April 4, 1994 and May 30, 1994 prototypes)

There's also the World of Illusion prototype and an older build of Dynamite Headdy that don't seem to have Hidden Palace articles yet.
