That's a review copy of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. There is unused stuff, such as leftovers from the TGS and E3 versions. But yeah, it's not the Saturn game.

We do have a prototype of the Saturn game floating around, as it was released as the leaked E3 prototype and a demo disc that was released in Japan. Said prototype has quite a few differences, although I don't know what's on the disc itself.

Would anybody be interested in digging further into the Doom stuff?

There are the 16 32X protos that have had notes to a certain degree. There is also a little-discussed Saturn Doom beta. All these are available in the Prototopia archive.

I'm not that good with 32X stuff. Not awful, but definitely not my area of expertise. I'll see what I can do, but I can't guarantee that it will be thorough.

No worries; any kind of help/contribution is appreciated. Haven't seen much activity with some other games, so this is definitely better than nothing.

We got a couple more Famicom prototypes! Not sure if these are dumped yet, but if we can raise some funds, one of my best pals (the same guy who got the Monster in my Pocket and Strider (Famicom) prototypes for us) could get them and dump them.

Code Name Viper/Dead Fox

Adventures of Bayou Billy / Mad City

I can't contribute much, but if we can get $1,700, we can get both and have 'em dumped, no proto hoarding bullshit.

I would be up for contributing (and would try to promote it) but I would want some verification that these are actually different from the final in any meaningful way and not just "here's the final game on an early cart".

I love the hand-drawn Dead Fox logo on the first cart.

Outta curiousity, where they're Famicom prototypes as opposed to U.S. prototypes, would the chances of them having meaningful differences be higher? It seems to me it would, though I don't wanna just run off excitement and assumptions either.

tl;dr, these are probably not actual dumped carts, but a mad city dump exists and the odds of this one being earlier are probably not worth a $1,000 gamble

I am primarily interested in the Ningen Heiki Dead Fox cart, I haven't been able to find info on it being dumped anywhere and neither has Rick, and there is a good chance it has some cool differences. As always with this kind of stuff there is no guarantee of significant differences. If donations were to be made I would release the dump immediately upon receipt of shipment.

I'd really only be willing to toss in any money if there was confirmation that it was actually different from the release version.

Looks like they've gone down in price now, to $500 for Dead Fox and $700 for Mad City. Not much relief, but still rather nice to know that the price went down a good amount.

That Mad City prototype is most likely just like all other Konami FC store samples: final build with a bit of content cut out to make space for ad messages that they put in. You're limited to a small bit of the game at the start, and then those messages interrupt and tell you to get the full game. You can still access the rest of the game with patch codes, etc. It's not a 1-of-a-kind item, you might see other copies of it on Yahoo Japan; and honestly that price is on the high side, still even after it was lowered to 700.

What are people's opinions on this Dr Mario Game Boy proto?

I can't tell if it is worth anything or not.

The date written on the EPROM (assuming m/dd/yy) places it in July 1990, which is the same month the game was released in Japan.

I can't tell what the actual day portion of the date says, but it looks like "26" which is literally the day before the Japanese release, so it could be a NA review copy as well (the same ROM was released in all regions).
