| Holy crap, that is a lot of different builds! That's actually extremely interesting! I added a few more NES protos that I didn't have, including a new crossed out game! I also should probably cross out some of the other ones that have no differences from the final version. I'm pretty sure there's a couple of those on that list (The Three Stooges comes to mind as one I'm almost certain has no differences), but yeah. Who'd know how to check those, especially ones that aren't written about on other websites? ____________________ |

Originally posted by Rick There's a lot of interesting stuff in those protos as well. There's textures for the auto shotgun that eventually appeared in Call of Pripyat. Builds 1114 and 1448 are very early versions of the final game that have things like different weapon models, basic ALIFE system and Counter-Strike sounds used as placeholders. One of the builds (forgot which one at the moment, but I know it was actually released by the devs, not leaked) is the closest thing to the proposed STALKER before it was cut up into a more linear game. It's filled with all sorts of unused areas, like the swamp that eventually appeared in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, more underground areas and two areas that are listed after the Chernobyl plant (a strange outside area with weird mutated plants and an underground section called Warlab). |

>>ESTABLISHING LINK...DONE. >>FETCHING POST DATA...DONE. >>EXECUTING POSTDISP.BIN... That might be a somewhat off-topic question, but how good is the final version of STALKER? I remember hearing about it and the like, and thinking how it's pretty interesting, back when it was still subtitled "Oblivion Lost" (which is actually how I still refer to it in my mind), but with all the delays, it just dropped off my radar someday. ____________________ cu xdaniel |

I oughta mention all the C&C Generals builds that were (even if only partly) leaked.
Build 98 (art, code, editor, videos, pretty much everything) Build 115 (code) Build 147 (code) Build 214 (code) Build 225 (code) Build 241+247 (code, both seem to be identical) Build 306 (code + super special text file prepared for the l10n teams) I should really get around to describing these. ____________________ Most people who visit your Web pages are there in search of useful or entertaining information, not to admire your fancy graphics skills or HTML prowess. — Apple Web Design Guide, 1996 |

Yeah, I'll let you do that since you've been the one who's been working on it anyway. ![]() Also, for those more in the know, what's a good way to compare two ROMs bit by bit to see if there are any differences? I've heard of it being done but I'm not sure what it entails. I wouldn't expect to figure out what the differences are, just if there are any at all. ____________________ |

| Something I should let you guys know about: I have two private Daikatana prototypes (one dated 8/20/1998, the other September 1999), and I've been given permission by the owner of them to make wiki pages for them. The 8/20/1998 is more interesting than the other, as it was made back before the first team quit. Surprisingly, most of the art is the same, but the levels are completely different (probably because of the team changing). However, I can't distribute them. I dunno when they'll be done (I haven't even started them yet and don't know when I will. ). I'm just letting you guys know in case one day pages for a prototype that nobody knows about suddenly pops up on the wiki.I'm also working on trying to get some previously-unseen prototypes for a game I don't want to name right now. I dunno if that'll pan out though. If it does, I'll probably do pages for them first, depending on if the distributor will give me permission. |

| Well we hope you can share it with us, I'd like to hear about it for sure, man! Maybe tomorrow or Thursday if I feel up to it, I'll go look for more Genesis protos to add to the list. ____________________ |

Originally posted by Imajin IIRC a while ago there was some work on documenting the differences between those protos. Most of it was just grammar changes and the like so that the text made sense to English speakers. the pages on them could probably be done via text dumps. |

| At least one of the translation prototypes has the female enemies that were removed from the final U.S. release. I don't know when they were removed. So that's something. |

Bad news; I don't think I'll be getting those prototypes for a certain game I mentioned earlier. The contact doesn't have them. However, I still have the Daikatana ones.____________________ ![]() |
