Right now I'm eating a bowl full of frozen strawberry-kiwi juice.

It's very good.

That sounds delish, Stark.

I'm having some leftover spaghetti from a few nights ago. Call me crazy, but I actually prefer cold spaghetti to hot spaghetti (as leftovers, anyway). And my mom makes a mean spaghetti sauce.

I'm gonna miss her cooking.

Breakfast today brought back an old favorite: hash browns. That's right!

The supermarket near my new apartment has a lot of fresh Yukon Gold potatoes, unlike the totally awful ones in the supermarket near Fenway, so I decided to pick a few up for some totally rad classic potato enjoyment. To go with the hash browns, I had scrambled eggs and two sausages.

The breakfast was of course delicious as usual. It turns out I'm not totally used to how utterly powerful this new gas stove yet and I burnt some of it pretty bad but on the flip-side it created a mega-crispy exterior.

There was no soundtrack to this breakfast but I suddenly thought of the song “New Beat” by Toro y Moi. Talk about chillwave in the morning! :J

Breakfast today was incredibly filling: a TON of oatmeal. I don't know what to do with all the milk left which I should finish before I leave tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to go to my job interview at 2PM.

Some more of the aforementioned spaghetti, sandwiched inside an English muffin.

SO GOOD!

I crafted some inexpertly assembled bow-tie noodles and basil tomato sauce with cheese. It was sorta forgettable, due to a lack of proper ingredients. But it was good enough to eat, so, that's better than some of my other horror-cooking episodes.

A week ago my mother showed up at my apartment with two cartons of jumbo eggs straight from the Asian food market down in Chinatown. The carton was about the size of any other container of dozen eggs but it wasn't until I opened it that I saw just how jumbo these eggs were. They were fucking huge.

The eggs were fried one by one in safflower oil and lightly salted with sea salt and served with a "hearty" Jones Dairy Farm sausage. The sausage came wrapped in paper which I don't think I've ever seen. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to peel them or what, but I did anyway and then I fried it on the pan for some 13 minutes. It came out with this caramelized crust that looked nothing like the picture which makes me wonder if maybe I wasn't supposed to peel it. Ugh, there was none of this paper nonsense in their typical little pork sausages! The sausage tasted fine, though.

Anyway, I can't stress enough how huge these eggs were, though. The yolk was a bright, bright sunny orange and they could barely be contained on the spatula on the way to the plate. I'm really hoping for some twin-yolk eggs in one of these cartons since I haven't seen one of those in absolutely forever. Twin yolks are the best. They're like when you actually get the blue or green gumballs from the gumball machine instead of the white one. Largely inconsequential but largely fun.

For the maximum feel of the 70s breakfast complete with Asian food market jumbo eggs and frozen sausages, the soundtrack for today's breakfast is Elvis Costello's first LP My Aim Is True.

I'm having some good old oatmeal for breakfast, mainly because I still have milk left and I'm leaving in just a few hours.

Oh well, I'll have to give that milk to someone.

Cheese and some salt and vinegar chips which are REALLY weak. I mean... there's a little zing of vinegar but not that much. I need flavor when it comes to chips.

Speaking of that, Doritos has come out with an Intense Pickle flavor which I definitely need to try out. Maybe I'll buy a small bag tomorrow on my way home.

I had some turkey sausages for breakfast today. They were okay but not amazing. They need to be thawed properly before cooking and I don't really like that. I wrote a message to Jones Dairy Farm yesterday and it turns out I'm supposed to be keeping the "paper" on after all. It's really a collagen casing composed of man-made proteins. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy one of these again.

The eggs were good as usual. I'm pretty sure I've perfected the art of sunny side up frying.

Lunch was ... Jamba Juice! ._. I know! FieryIce goes to Chicago and GOES TO CHAINS ._. I just couldn't resist! Last night we went to a place called "Margie's Candies" and my goodness, I had one of their shakes and it was the best shake I've ever had. :O

My aunt made dinner, I had white rice, macaroni, and fried plantain. Yum

Yet more boring old apple oatmeal. Of course I didn't use to eat breakfast--for about 10 years I ate nothing for breakfast.

For dinner today was steak (marinated in Japanese wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce), noodle salad, and green beans. It was good, however, we ate outside and my seat had not fully dried out from the last rainstorm...
