Breakfast today can only be compared to the theatrical cut of Darren Aronofsky's 2006 film The Fountain, a deep, nutritionally philosophical mess of cinema served with toast. One of the yolks of the sunny side up eggs was broken and leaked all over the place, much like the main narrative strand of the film, while the hash browns were like the past narrative, all jumbled and kind of ugly. Jimmy Dean's sausage links were decent but I feel like they really, really didn't fit in. This sucks because I have eight more of these fuckers to go through.
Overall, the dish is totally for fans of the eggs-hash browns-sausages-toast genre if you can get by with a slightly messy presentation. Otherwise, you probably want to wait for the director's cut instead. One of these days, I'll have my Black Swan. -------------------- —Sofi |

| Well, I wanted Chinese ... so I made fried rice with boiled eggs sliced into tiny pieces, peas, and carrots and a lot of soy sauce. Then, on top of all that rice, chow mein noodles soaked in teriyaki sauce. Mix well, add more soy sauce. Mmmm high blood pressure ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

I totally meant to post this much, much earlier but I had to make an emergency run to the store and ended up spending over two hours there.
Dinner was two little pieces of steak covered in sauce, all of this served with brown rice. The sauce was a mixture of soy sauce, corn starch and beef broth and the steak was brushed with olive oil and seasoned with some garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper and some basil and then fried on a pan. ![]() Click to enlarge. This was not one of my favorite things to cook up taste-wise. I usually love steak but this was just not amazingly flavorful. The texture, though, was fantastic. I really enjoyed that. -------------------- —Sofi |

Marshmellow Peeps... but now I kind of regret it because I don't have anything to wash them down with, and the taste kind of sticks to one's mouth...

Breakfast was another fairly typical scrambled egg-sausage-bacon-hash brown breakfast. I'm finally getting the hash brown to be super-crispy when I'm done instead of potato-y, which is a really, really good thing to have and I'm also trying out uncooked sausages rather than cooked ones. The sausages are from Johnsonville and you can find them in the meat section of a grocery store and you have to defrost them the night before you eat them.
![]() Click to enlarge. Johnsonville is only okay. I don't really like the flavor and the texture of it is really lame. I miss Jones Dairy Farm's sausages very, very much but I have to get through this container of Johnsonville plus half a bag of Jimmy Deans still left over from last week before I can switch back. I should never have strayed. I do wonder if Trader Joe's has some awesome sausages of their own to try, though. -------------------- —Sofi |
