I made meat loaf. It took twice as long to cook as the recipe said it would. It was pretty good though. Needed salt (couldn't add salt because it's also for the baby).

The baby is having cold meat loaf tomorrow. I think he'll really enjoy it. It should be really easy for him to pick up bits, and chew it (he doesn't have teeth yet), and I expect he'll be able to eat quite a bit of it.

Wait, what? I'm really curious about this… how do you make the mashed potatoes into buns? Just… roll it up into balls? I think this might be a really easy thing for my baby to eat, so I'm very interested to know more about the method!

I had cruskits with cream cheese, because I didn't go shopping and there's not much to eat in the house.

steamed taro buns. i usually microwave these but this time i steamed them. it takes 2 minutes to microwave but some 15 minutes to steam, but the texture steamed is so much better.

but is it 7.5× better? yeah i’d say so.

steaming is life tbh

Taco Bell. It's... not good.

I was originally going to get another sub from Subway, but I decided against it.

We don't have much in the way of food at home, owing to a large backlog of dishes that need hand-washed because our previous dishwasher mostly coated them in drain-clogging gunk or something.

I'm not quite sure, actually. I did a literal translation, because I couldn't find what it was called in English, and further looking around I still couldn't find any.

Anyway, I never actually make it myself, I just buy it pre-made/frozen because #effort and no kitchen space. Anyway, it's generally mashed potatoes mixed with bigger pieces you get by grating whole potatoes. I tried to look up recipes online and it varies a lot what is added otherwise. If you can stand translating recipes from Swedish, search for "potatisbullar", recipe in Swedish is recept. :p

Anyway, you form them into small flat pucks and generally fry them. The foodstuff is generally very, very, compact and loses heat slowly. It's (usually) served with bacon and lingonberry sauce. :p

Thank you for this! I found a recipe. Google Translate has made it unintentionally hilarious ("sip the potato water") but I get the general idea. Sounds pretty easy actually, seems like one of those things you can do with leftover mashed potato, like bubble and squeak.

I had French toast for breakfast, because we had stale bread, and eggs, and cinnamon.

I almost ate a sandwich made out of mouldy bread.

I was thankfully alert and saw it. So I ate a sandwich with uh, not-mouldy bread. Toasted lf-cheese and croatian salami sandwich.

have been truly stepping up my leftover food game. by exerting a tiny bit of extra effort into my cooking routines, i’ve basically made food last longer.
  1. reheated frozen rice
  2. leftover restaurant 蒸肉餅 (steamed minced pork), made into an omelette
  3. steamed vegetables
  4. leftover mooncake
  5. fusion white + green tea

tbh a very Chinese meal if i do say so myself

I managed to make my freezer temporarily unusable by filling it with so many leftovers and stuff for later.

We had leftover jambalaya last night. It was much better fresh.

as far as rice dishes go, i only eat plain white jasmine rice, btw. could be it.

Because the rice was cooked in the jambalaya I just put the whole dish in tubs in the freezer. Defrosted overnight, added a bit of water when reheating on the stove. Wasn't bad or anything, just the texture was a little bit different, I guess in enough of an unexpected way to throw me.

oh that’s the problem

the freezing thing only applies to plain white rice

i don’t know about any other kind of rice (tbh i don’t eat flavored rice often)

Yeah, I don't either. I had a MOUNTAIN of food though and even after I fed guests there was still enough for a LOT of leftover! Tasted great though: next time I make it I'll have to invite more/hungrier guests.

I'm eating leftover mashed sweet potato that was the baby's dinner. Mine has salt on it though.
