Yeah, I can get produce and meat from a regular freaking grocery store, thanks ;x and it doesn't cost me a kajillion dollars because its been imported and tastes exactly the same. never really understood that. Its one thing if its like, for convenience (I've purchased Japanese dish soap once just because it would have saved me a second trip to another store) but that's usually not the case...

Eh? The asian market stuff here costs much less, oddly. I guess the otaku just buy enough they decide to drop the price?

I've never seen Pocky on sale in any other store besides anime/comic shops.

If the demand is high, they'd actually raise it, if they were in to being a ripoff.

Same here. I've only bought it the time I went to an anime convention and I felt like it was something I should try...

The coconut and chocolate type is very good, though.

the one I go to (I got a membership card so I can get a 10% discount or however the heck those things work) in LA is a little on the pricey side, especially for things like produce (GIANT CARROTS) and meat. I usually only shop there for special ingredients like mirin and what not that I couldn't pick up in the asian section of a regular store. Okay, and Pie no Mi, but in my defense they are amazing

I have never tried Pocky, but there is a Chinese/Korean/Japanese pastry store downtown in one of the subway stations. I've passed by it a few times and Pocky is in the store window. (Along with some tasty pastries that I must sample sometime, even if I don't know what they exactly are.)

I love pocky, but there are other Japanese snack foods that I like even more. Rice crackers wrapped in nori are heavenly.
