The hunger bar is probably going to be annoying, having to eat constantly will make it impossible to stock up on food. Endermen are a cool idea, But I imagine that more than a couple structres are going to be griefed by these guys, I'm not sure if Notch has added anything to make sure they can't steal player-placed blocks, but I'm going to assume that he hasn't. I like the idea of generated mineshafts, they should hopefuly make it easy to navigate underground. I like the generated villages the best, having a pre-built structure would be nice if you went out exploring too far and needed to find sheter quick. The new light color will probably annoy me, I really don't want my caves to be yellow in color. The exp. system seems like an unecessary feature that will probably have few uses. The rivers will be nice, It makes the land more scenic. Updated combat... Minecraft is a combat game? I like the larger and better seperated biomes, Now I shouldn't see a desert mixed in with tundra. Creative mode is pretty much the only way people can build big projects now, not having to worry about hunger and being griefed by endermen is a big thing when trying to build something amazing.

I seem to recall that somewhere Notch said the hunger bar would ony be on the harder difficulties. I'd rather not have to deal with hunger, since my usual playstyle is to go into a mine for [game]days at a time with a large supply of wood.

Also, of those updates listed, the mineshaft one is something I haven't heard before. Spiderwebs! Goody!

I'm planning on giving it another try once 1.8 comes out, who knows, maybe I'll love it. My brother bought it, and it's probably just the same problem I had with Terraria at first, just the sense of a huge world, and no idea what to do in it.

You can already play this version with the right mods. TooManyItems for "creative mode", Zombe's flying shit to really pile on the creativity, and there's even Millenaire (or whatever it is) for the NPC villages and crap.

The only thing that really interests me so far is the lighting, but knowing it's going to break all the mods (again) is kind of irritating.

I tried installing some of those mods and then Minecraft almost went to a screeching halt for me. Nonetheless, I did like what I see with the villages mod, though I didn't get a chance to fart around with it much.

I'm kind of hoping that the new lighting system will let me play with less lag, which is exciting enough for me. I sure hope that the September 8th release date is going to end up not being tentative and end up actually being the day it's released.

I tried making a new house design. It's kinda small, but whatever. My big houses are always woefully empty.

What do you think?

It's built on a flat map for testing purposes. I wonder if I'll make anymore.

Makes sense.

I mean, plenty of people at this point have basically forgotten about minecraft right? So they hear their friend say something like "I can't believe that minecraft update got delayed AGAIN!" and they remember that the game exists and actually come back and play it. That only matters, of course, in those cases where the person who gets re-involved in the game becomes a bit of a proselytizer themselves. Bottom line, people.

Also, software development is complicated and setting reasonable goals for yourself and a team is difficult. So when the above happens, basically inevitably, there are at least perks.

I let curiosity get the better of me and downloaded it. Burning sticks in the furnace likes to crash the client now, for some reason.

Might be graphics related, with the new lighting system. If it is... well, goodbye minecraft.
