 Changing the texture pack would not improve FPS, if that's what you're asking.
Besides setting render distance to short and graphics type to fast, something I find helps a lot is going into your processes (task manager) and setting the priority of javaw to "high". You can use FastRender and McRegion mods to increase your framerate. ____________________ |

Quandary is the one I use too, I like having it look similar to the original textures. There are quite a few great packs available.
Tronic is good for a simplified look 
ClassyCraft is also strangely endearing 
if you enjoy gameboy colors, you might want to look at CraftBoy 
if you're looking to increase the resolution of your textures: AnimalCrafting

I really Dislike "HD LOL 128x128" textures. i like the 32x32 pixel art type ones, but 32x32 is the max resolution I go.

I haven't shown off any pictures for a while.
It's Aquanor! A town I run on my server. The big fort on the left was a three-man effort, the lighthouse faintly visible in the background was all done by one guy, and I'm solely responsible for the house in the center with all the torches on the roof (improvised anti-zombie solution) and the building with the sloped roof. ____________________ I swim through a sea of stars, without looking back to shore.
