Ah well, at least the debug text is useful.

Like I said, we should hold off on SMG2 until we're more familiar with it. I know for sure I've seen it, and I recall struggling to get to the star in that big ring, but I couldn't tell you which level it's in.

I absolutely loved SMG2 and have played every level many times and know all the galaxys like the back of my hand (sad, yes, i know, it was just such a good game!) and that ''zero gravity room'' is the area you enter after going through the pipe on the first planet of the second star in the slipsand galaxy. in the circles are arrows that turn when you walk on a curved surface thus changing the gravity. if you need anything else identified lemme know.

About the Flying and Ice themes. They're in those midi-conversion stream files most likely. I never really got a chance to test that due to SMG2 running at a sub-par speed on my PC...

I wouldn't normally double-post-bump like this, but I found something exciting: a beta room!



This one is called BegomanRoomPlanet (Begoman = Topman). Everything is very purposefully textured with these four colored checker textures.


Also found the bell used in the beta Star World.

Intresting, could this level suggest that the main debug area could still be in the games code. anyway does the bell used in the beta mario galaxy demo still has its behavior.
I am a bit intrested in the bell because if that is still in the game who says that the cosmic Toad and the odd start from the Star World (where Mario is stuck in a bubble) could still be in the game.

I'm afraid that the bell has no actions associated with it, but that's not to say that the actions weren't controlled by something else, such as simple gravity and physics. I'm not sure about the bubble start thing, as it could have just been something for the demo. I'm not sure about the star Toads, as they could have retextured/redone the models into the current Toad Brigade.


Edit: Did SMG have a giant enemy crab? We'll find out tomorrow.

His actions consist of a great number of attacks, including being able to punch from walls and fire some kind of projectile shot. Engine test perhaps?

The very one, yes. I'm not looking at SMG2 yet.


I should also note that the pipes aren't warp pipes, they actually lead all the way through the planet, with a little exit pipe sticking out the bottom of the stone hemisphere.


Edit: Also note, the pic of BossCrab is not very accurate to the real thing because of my video card. I'll get a better approximation soon.

I find irony in that image, with Nintendo's whole "anti-religion" policy. Anyone can see the cross there, and the structure looks like a church.

Do the checkerboards on the church/house indicate missing textures, or are they supposed to be there? Was that Nintendo's "default" texture?

Also, re: BillBoarder: 2D sprites which always face the camera in 3D space are commonly called "billboards."
