I do things for reasons.
I'm an amateur game developer, or at least I will be when this mental illness nonsense is sorted out.
I personally specialize in level design. It was my dream to become a game designer, so I made a lot of 'Mario levels' on graph paper as a kid. I'm also a reasonably competent programmer, with emphasis on algorithm design and debugging.
The games I play are mostly of the way-too-hard why-god-why variety. I beat I Wanna Be The Guy and managed to enjoy most of it, Super Meat Boy was a fun ride, and I'm always on the lookout for a fresh challenge. At the same time, the games I enjoyed the most were very reasonable in terms of difficulty curves. I grew up playing Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Sonic & Knuckles, so those are probably the greatest influences on my understanding of game design.
