Seems like a very interesting game.

One thing that I discovered is that the strategy to play Coup depends a lot on how many players are in the game.

With the max number of players (six), it's usually better to play honestly, because when you want to fake a card, the chance that someone has seen this card, thinks the probability that you have it is low and challenges you is high.

Also, it seems it's better to play defensively, mostly because this way you see more player actions and it becomes easier to guess the opponent's card. I think some research suggests that humans are terrible at doing "random" actions, so trying to read them is worth it almost every time.

Coup is really fun. Also a bit frustrating to me because I usually don't have a plan playing it and just go through doing any action that makes sense at any particular time, which can end up poorly. I'm bad at coming up with strategies though.

Basically you have some cards that have special abilities, but you can do whatever you want, even if you don't have the card. If you think the opponent is lying (using an ability from a card he does not have), you can challenge him/her, but if the challenge is lost you are penalized.

It's a bit like poker, it all boils down to trying to infer what cards your opponents have based on their actions, and react accordingly. There is a simulator online for people who want to try it out.

ooh I've played that before. Fun!

e: I made it to stage 5 of Tatsujin on one credit today, which is really good progress. I'm also trying to do a no-death clear of Shinobi on hardest difficulty with fast bullets; I've gotten the 1CC a few times, it's just a matter of getting that magic run where everything comes together.

Tatsujin, it's super hard, can't even get past stage 2 on one credit and I've already put like 7 hours into it. but still lots of fun

Truxton 1&2/Tatsujin and Tatsujin Ou are two of the hardest shmups that aren't manic or danmaku, mostly due to stage length. Wishin you the best!

I suck at 1ccing shmups personally lol

Thanks! I can clear stage 3 now, so progress!

I started Ys V, at Ramzen Plains. It's trying really hard to be Zelda or Mana, but it's still fun.
Got past Hollow Bastion on Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+ weeks ago too but my stomach virus (it's gone now) kinda got me out of the mood to play that.
My Paper Mario playthrough's at Chapter 3, also not in the mood to play it rn because Mario RPGs are super slow paced.
And I'm also replaying Pokémon Red. Catching Pokés I find cute/cool then going for full Pokédex (using cheats because blah) in the post game. Beat Misty, heading to Bill's house. Current team is Squirtle, Pidgey, Nidoran♀, Pikachu and Oddish. Also have a Jigglypuff and a Clefable but I don't really intend on using em. Gonna try to get an Abra for Psychic type representation.

Might replay Romancing SaGa 1 (or play the PS2 remake) sometime later when I'm done translating the data on Romancing Tiger's Nest.

Also in a Mega Man mood. Beat Mega Man 1 for like the umpteenth time, and now I'm replaying MM2 difficult mode.

A friend put a bug in my ear about actually playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, so I got back into it, and man. What a game. I actually got the Platinum for it, which is a first-ever for me. (Helps the plat's pretty easy ) Now I'm diving back into Fire Emblem Warriors, and mixing in some Dark Void, which is a weird throwback to gaming in 2010. Decent though!

Same. I started modding the Special Edition because of how much more stable it is. 136 mods, no issues at all, and so far, perfectly stable!

Then I realised my temperatures were reaching 100 degrees and I had to close it. Just gave the computer and damn good cleaning, and I'm about to retry.

I also bought Far Cry 5, which I'm really enjoying. It's surprisingly unlike Far Cry 3 and 4, which serves it really well. Had it been more of the same, I probably would've been quite disappointed.

Been playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PSX (PSN release on Vita) recently, more or less for the first time ever, too. Finished the main part, but only just started on the, so to speak, "inverted half" of the game.

Lunar: The Silver Star for the Sega CD. Been enjoying it so far despite the fact that I still don't feel like I'm in the main plot yet.

I've been playing Caves of Qud a lot lately. It's a really interesting roguelike with a lot of nice features that make it a lot more accessible than, say, NetHack while still having a lot of depth, both in story and in gameplay.

Unfortunately, it still has a bit of a learning curve to it, and it took me a while to really learn how to play. Once I did, though, I've been enjoying it.

It IS fun.

Yesterday I beat Mario Tennis: Power Tour for the GBA, which I lovingly refer to as Golden Sun Tennis due to its general stylistic similarity to its proper JRPG cousin.

I feel like your doubles partner plays way too defensively for my tastes, a lot of times he could have just scored but he didn't. Otherwise it was a blast.
