MM10 ended up in the backlog, and since I'm on vacation...

Beat Normal today, then went back and destroyed Easy (to unlock the challenges) so I'm fully prepared to cower in terror once Hard rolls around. (Note: I made Normal a lot harder than it should be by going for the No Coffee Break achievement right off the bat)

I made a video for everyone's favorite obscure yet media-heavy gaming blog Press the Buttons featuring the Mega Man Killers and their musics from Mega Man 10.

If anything, it'll give you an idea of the boss fights and weapons to be released on DLC in a couple of weeks.

Tell ya what: fighting Ballade the second time without taking any hits was quite the accomplishment!

what. the. crap.

Protoman DLC in 9 actually made it harder, although that might just be me

Protoman takes more damage, and can only fire 2 regular-sized shots at once, so yeah, it is harder. <.<

Although his shield that protects you from projectiles while in the air (as long as you're facing it) and slide that makes it a lot easier to escape danger really balances that out. Plus he has the charge shot which you could kind of say makes up for maximum of two normal shots.

I experimented with bass for a bit although I was extremely disappointed when he didn't have his double jump from Megaman & Bass. I'm much more interested in the 1st special stage which recreates one of my favorite Mega Man levels of all time. Plus if you beat it you get a new special weapon that can be used in any level (story mode or time attack) at any time.

Oh man, has anyone tried the Bass DLC yet?

For those on the fence about making this purchase: Was easy mode just not easy enough for you? You'll sure love shooting rapidly in every direction and flying wherever you please.
I have to admit, it's a little satisfying to effortlessly slay some of these bosses who gave me trouble as Mega Man.. but damn. They did not pull back with this one.
Bass's little flexing pose cracks me up.

What a smug bastard.

I have seen what you did with MM10 Higsby. Godamn. Only trophy you are missing is the "Mr. Perfect" one.

I still have not beaten it yet. And here you are killing my dreams.

And I was trying hard to get that trophy last night. I'm already at the first level of the castle although those darn archives always damage me (Note: I'm playing on easy mode and with Protoman so I'm not that amazing ).

Also I take back a lot of the comments that I made in my previous post. After playing through the game three or four more times, things such as the music and special weapons really started to grow on me .

Easy mode counts for the achievements? Wow.

I hope so. Even though it's easy mode it doesn't really not taking damage a whole lot easier. I've had to return to the title screen at least a hundred times already .

I just downloaded and beat Mega Man 10 for PS3 and I have to say that I am very satisfied .

The levels were a lot of fun this time around and most of the music was alright (there were only one or two tunes that I think will really stick with me which is too bad...). I wasn't a huge fan of the special weapons though, most of them seemed either too slow, too short ranged, or just extremely weak. I was really happy with the end though, the final fortress was a lot of fun to play through (the first level especially because of the way that it split into so many different paths) and the final boss was great (although definitely not as hard as it has been in past games).

Overall it was a lot of fun and I still plan to go back and complete the challenges and play through hard mode .

P.S. A few days ago in IRC someone told me that there was a spoiler in the instruction manual and that I shouldn't read it if I didn't want to see it, after I beat the game I gave it a look and I didn't notice anything that was a spoiler. Is the PS3 manual different from the Wii one or did I somehow miss it?

So far I have done this in order.

- Solar man stomped my ass
- Killed Sheep man
- Killed Nitro man without using specials (Sheep man's ability did nothing)
- Killed Chill man without specials
- Killed Blade man (His pattern was surprisingly noticeable. Once you learn it he is rather simple) without specials

Did not buy any E-tanks or anything

Now I am gonna take a break.

Total Gameplay time: 00:42:32

E- Edited thread title to match up with how the game will be released. Xbox folks should get it next week.

Yes, because an inconsistent song is a mistake.

Like I said earlier here: I bought the shit out of MM10.

Now if you excuse me, I am going to play this game completely without no aid in a guide.

It really depends on what you expect out of a stage theme, cpubasic. Also, the soundtrack is supposed to be varied and inconsistent, it's handled by around 10 composers each having worked on a classic entry in the series. It feels very much like they said make a song that fits the environment and they all did just that. Strike Man for instance has instruments and audio very similar to that of Baseball Stars for the NES, so it's all fitting for the stages and time period.

...what?

I mean the song itself was inconsistant. if you are saying the entire soundtrack is the same then I don't even need to bother looking at every song.

Also having 10 composers does NOT give it any excuses for such mistakes.

I'm not even comparing.

Also saw the level for Solar Man. Abysmal. It looked like nothing new while at the same time cramming everything that was unique for that stage into every aspect of the level it could.

Am I the only one who thinks that Strike Man's theme sounds pretty similar to Tornado Man's from 9? (Probably my favorite song from that game)

And say our judgment is clouded all you want, but I know for a fact that this entry in the series is solid. It has interesting new level design that isn't thrown at you all at once, solid music that fits the stages, an interesting twist here and there and new features that rock. Time attack for instance is less of a technical show-off and more skill-based now with the time attack clock being ongoing in the pause menu, and the replays feature is a very nice touch. The challenges are mostly simplistic and easy, but some of the hard mode ones are pretty challenging. The Normal mode is far more fair this time around, but that's why Hard mode exists. And it's hard...

Agreed.

I mentioned that point about the soundtracks in my post. Each game has its own feel. In MM10 however, each stage is quite distinct. And I really like that. It's a refreshing change.
