Personally, I think ZD should keep its focus on emulators and emulation news and leave hacks and utilities to romhacking.net. It would seem like a huge waste of effort to get everything back up to date (and keep it that way) when you've already got a very large, up-to-date archive just a URL away.

I think they're in the process of updating their stuff. I just got contacted by the site owner who asked me if he could put Toad's Tool 64 on Zophar. And obviously I said yes!

What's wrong with having old hacks?

I don't have a problem with the old hacks. All I'm saying is that the site should be updated with some of the newer hacks that have been made in the years the site has been dead. But I'm not saying to get riod of the older ones. Those are interesting to keep around for things like nostalgia and such. It's interesting to see where it all began, plus those hacks aren't really available anywhere else other than rom archives for games. I know that most, if not all of those old SMW hacks came with my SMW archive.

Nice! I remember downloading Genecyst from Zophar and playing Sonic at mediocre speed at in my 486! Too bad back then my internet access was very limited, so I didn't know nothing about ROM Hacking. A few weeks ago I tried acessing the Zophar website and it was down, so I thought the site was officially dead. Good news (at least for the nostalgy).

Ah, Zophar. The times of old are returning again.

I feel more powerful now that the places of my youth have returned.

First the return of the Sonic 2 Beta people I had lost contact with since... November 2002-ish?

Now this... and Mega Man 9... and etc.

It's like all the sites and things of the past are returning.

I had heard a month or so ago that they were wanting to get that thing back in shape.

Nice to see that they ACTUALLY made good on that promise.

A lot of places recommend keeping the width of content down to about 800px wide, since much more becomes harder to follow. See also the main page, which is limited to 800.

Bloodstar: A lot of hacks on there are extremely out of date or plain broken. If they'd go though and update that section -- it feels extremely old and broken -- I'd have no problem wiht it.

There's very little room for content with the way they have the hacks/etc pages lined out.
There's also quite a bit of whitespace on the far left/right; if they're trying to be compatible with 800x640, well, I seriously doubt more than 3-5% (at most) of the people who visit that site would still have such a low resolution.

I mean, old completed hacks. I see no problem at all with having older hacks there, unless there's a newer, fixed/completed version of such a hack...

Or maybe I'm just misinterpreting things.

Yeah, I found out about this last night while looking for a decent TG16 emu...

I saw a few old things (Gens+ 0.0.961 is not new holy shit) being said as new, but... obviously there is new stuff there. (ApprenticeMinusDS... which, interestingly, I helped beta test.)

Maybe it'll be highly worth using again?

They apparently have a large staff backing them too. This should be intriguing.

Well this is interesting. Zophar's was already dead by the time I learned of it, though I did download a couple of the tools/hacks from it on occasion.

Announcement in the forums indicates it went live on the 11th. The day after Jack Thompson was nominated for permanent disbarment. Coincidence? I think not!

If Emu News Service comes back I'll die a happy man.

*cough*

Actually looks nice; if the new guy can keep up his motivation for a little while, it's promising.

Damn, I never expected something like this to happen. I thought it was gone for good, though I also still looked at it every once in a while. Looks like it's been back for a few days now. I'd think they'd update all the stuff, would it really be back if they didn't?

Zophar's is one of the first romhacking sites I stumbled across. It's nice to see it back and updated. I wonder though, are they going to update all their hacks, utilities, etc.? It's all very outdated. There are SMW hacks from like 2001 on there.
