Yup, it's based on OS9's Platinum theme. It's a default Xfce theme, "Trench." (I swear I didn't pick that theme because the screenshot is showing off some code I wrote for an OS9 game )

hey, that's the same wallpaper my laptop uses. (though I'm too lazy to boot it and it's pretty much just that but with an xfce panel on the left anyway)

here's my current desktop on my new workstation, only one monitor this time (click for full)

Here's my desktop. (1366x768 - 164 KB - JPG)

The wallpapers are all from Windows Spotlight, i set the desktop background to change with another random one from the folder the wallpapers are in every minute. Everytime i see a new windows spotlight wallpaper on my lock screen i extract it and i add it to the folder where all of them are. Also, i made Windows 10 look like macOS with RocketDock.
If you don't know what Windows Spotlight is, it's a feature turned on by default in Windows 10 that downloads pictures and automatically from Bing and displays them on the lock screen on a computer running Windows 10. The Windows Spotlight wallpaper changes every once in a while.

That's not enough, I can still see the wallpaper.

Anyway, got myself another laptop. Pretty bare desktop for now, but I just like that new, default, clean feeling. I still have to try and run 98SE on it.

Discord really is easy to use, though — for a lot of communities you don't even need an account, you can just click, toss in a name, and you're there. It's a lot like the IRC of old in that way (though with IRC you still needed a client, usually ...)

On the other hand, it sure is great when the whole thing collapses and the only thing you can do is look at whatever "how do you do, fellow kids" meme they added for the loading screen

Now THAT is disrespectful, fucking hell. Honestly, people think Discord are the caring ones but no, they are just a bunch of memesters that exploit being cool as a means of getting away with everything :/

Also i hate how people won't move to xmpp/whatever because aaaaa it's too inconvenient but if xmpp was trendy it would be a diffrrent story

Most people on it also refuse to use anything else and that aggravates me a lot, seems to me it has a monopoly and being the trendy IM of the next few years it will be such until the new one comes along and everyone immediately moves their friends there... and so the cycle continues

yup. and I'll never forgive them for refusing to help us transfer server ownership when my friend died. because the server had less than 100 people in it. ugh.

their model is extremely exploitative, and is pretty much eating everybody's privacy, the least (or perhaps in this case most) I can do is refuse to use their client

oh, neat!
i've seen a different re-creation of weatherscan somewhere online,
but it was a lot more involved in terms of setting it up and such,
so it's nice to see a one click and youre there version of it out there
thanks for the heads up!

Also, could never get the hang of using Ripcord. UI felt too clunky to me.

Honestly, the "normal" Discord client really just pisses me off because it takes up half a gigabyte of RAM for no good reason. That alone is enough to make me switch. I'm pretty used to clunky UIs, anyway
yeah, this is my beef with the official client as well...
there's really no reason for every program to be a glorified browser window
plus, my mac mini is agonizingly slow at launching programs because of its 5400rpm hard drive
so any optimization i can get is a good one, honestly

Nice 404 error

K-meleon test builds running goanna3 are also cool. :3

Not sure what you mean ... As far as I'm aware, it's just an old build that they made for W98 before deprecating support for it entirely.

I saw K-Meleon in your screenshot and remembered that there are unofficial builds now running the Goanna 3.4.2 layout engine, which is what an older Pale Moon uses (there's also a W2K port using 3.2 IIRC).

Err, wait, wrong decade.

Wait, what? Since when is Windows 98 outdated? And for a decade even?

Do I really have to get one of those Pentium IIIs or Athlons and run Windows XP now...?

Oops. I fixed it.

I hardly got any sleep the night before I posted that, so you can probably blame sleep deprivation.
