I haven't been out of my state in a few years but it'd be nice to visit somewhere else. Yep, I'm yet another Missourian but since I don't have any friends in this state traveling is out of the question for now.

Travel has historically been only holidays with the family, which were either to Germany or France. That's about it? The last few years have been shorter and with just my brother, once to London and once in the general direction of Hamburg. I think I'm the least traveling person in this house.

I'd like to see bits of scandinavia at some point though.

So, does anyone here have experiences with lowcost/student travel? I have tried hitchiking for the first time recently and while it was very exhausting, it was a great experience. I really want to travel more and I don't really have many other options, but I really like how it gets you more among the people, which is maybe more interesting here in Europe, where everybody has his own very different culture.

I do not travel.

I have no possible travel buddies.

Nor any real free time.

I'm pretty happy with the amount of traveling I get to do nowadays; Aside from conventions in San Jose and Sacramento, I've been out-of-state once to visit home for the holidays and out-of-country in October 2016 on a two-week cruise through the Panama Canal.

Most recently though, it was Sacramento. Didn't have as good of a time there as I really wanted, but at least the hotel Acey and I stay in has a delicious (if somewhat arbitrary) continental breakfast.

ummm the last time i traveled was just going back to missouri to visit my parents. not super exciting, but it was kinda weird being there compared to denver. it's striking how much more lush everything is (it's so green!!) and how thick and fresh and breathable the air is. pretty much everything else about denver is better though soooooooo yeah (it also made me realize how much of an accent everyone there has. like, i didn't even realize how much twang there was in peoples' accents back home until i spent some time away)

i haven't really done nearly as much traveling as i'd like to. i'd like to visit more interesting places, someday, but it's expensive and neither my girlfriend or my family have ever really liked traveling. i haven't even been to the rockies!!! i'd love to go, i bet they're really pretty! obviously i'd like to visit my family again someday, but i'd also realllly like to visit a lot of my internet friends and do fun/cool stuff with them.

Well, it's confirmed that I'm going to the Bahamas in October. It's going to be the first time I've been out of the country in almost 20 years, and I'm super hyped.

Taking a couple of trips to Boston over the next couple of months, mostly for conventions.

I haven't really been much of anywhere outside New England since 2014, since work eats up most of my free time. I do have enough points on my card though that I can take a free round trip flight to California. I wanna go visit some friends there.

Nights were still getting to be the 30s or so, which is plenty cold when you end up sleeping outside.

Are you still around Vegas? If so, you may have an... Enthusiastic definition of cold.

I went around August 2010 and really liked it.

I can't hear "Delaware" without thinking of plastic food containers and that amuses me to no end.

I had a dream that I was driving back to California, but then I woke up, alas...

I did remember that I went to Alaska many, many years ago! It was for a week or two to visit a friend, and I don't remember much other than it was really cold even in "summer". These days it's probably a little more tropical

Aside from smaller trips to shows in Philadelphia, or hopping into Delaware for shopping every once in a great while, or peeking right into the edge of New Jersey to visit my aunt... I've not left the state since 2005.
(yes, I know Philadelphia isn't leaving the state, but shows might be worth mentioning)

I'm overdue as all hell to go somewhere, but where? And with what money

I did enjoy my trip to Baltimore's aquarium in 2005, though!

Oh damn, I was there all four days.

I'll be going to Portugal, Spain, and Sweden in May. Really looking forward to it.

I thought I did tell you, but you were busy and we had plans, or something? BMF has been going up there pretty much yearly for that show, too.

Speaking of shows, I already told you I'm in Vegas on a business trip this April so

I assume part of it is that we were in SeaTac and didn't really plan for other things..?

If we end up going that way again I'll let you know

portugal the man!!! i need to listen to them, i still have them on my list of Shit To Get

went to PAX West 2017 back in september with two buddies from work--seatlle was kinda muggy but not too much, overall pretty nice and liked that a strip joint was advertising that amazon employees get 20% off

pike place market was kinda intense

going to PAX East in boston this april with one buddy from work and her boyfriend, whose last day at our office was today! moving on to better things

i have an extra set of badges for all four days and i invited one of my closest friends, my ex--she's looking into it since it can get expensive but it'd be great, we're both really into giant bomb and going to their show alone would justify the trip

oh! in late july i drove from san jose all the way down to san diego for a my brother my brother and me show during comic con:

over 11 hours of driving! serene podcast time

san diego was cool and also cool, relatively low temperatures vs. how it was stupid hot back home

I got to travel a fair bit when I was young because of my dad's work and all the fancy conferences were very kid-friendly for all the agents.

However that was a long time ago. I did get to go to Japan about 3 years ago for my honeymoon though!
