Today's just windy — up to 45mph winds. Probably going to be a dusty nightmare for the next few days.

It's starting to heat up again, hopefully this is the last heat wave of 2018 here. These heat waves where I live are unpredictable on when they start and nobody knows when they'll end!

At least it's a free meal?

I dunno, is there any nutritional value in silica?

Nope. It says "DO NOT EAT" on those silica drying sachets in food packs for a reason.

Well, today started out warm and bright, and has become cool and overcast and rainy.

We went full on humid dust storm up here. Hayfever season has started bombastically and I don't like it.

Yeah, it's gross here in the metro region too. I also hate it.

The sun decided to come out yesterday and it was a really nice day here. Mid-70s (approx. 25 degrees for the Celsius users) is acceptable and perfect weather for me.

Meanwhile, here, it's been kind of up and down. The weather has been a bit windy every now and then, but mostly the same as always — dry and clear.

It's a gorgeous spring day here today. Sun is out, there's a bit of a breeze, it's not too warm and it's not cold. Just gorgeous.

My kid went outside at baby playgroup, and got down on the ground with his bum up in the air and his mouth in a pile of sand and just started eating.

Ah yes. Outdoors. So great.

Edit/update: I took my eyes off the boy for maybe two minutes, and then he proudly handed me the draught excluder from the front door. So, uh, I'll need to get that fixed up before the hot weather arrives.

On one hand, I'm glad this month hasn't been grossly hot. On the other, I'm seeing the very hot weather return temporarily the next few days.

And it's as of this post, only in the mid-60s in late August. It's not every day you see that.

Yeah, it sounds like Seattle and the PNW in general has had a really rough time. At least when we've had to deal with that sort of thing, pretty much everywhere here has central A/C, so the air indoors was at least filtered.

(It was still kind of surreal 13+ years ago when actual ashes were landing on the ground from a wildfire a ways away.)

As for here: Hot. The last two weeks were a mess of on-and-off summer thunderstorms, some bad enough to knock out power to various places. Now it's just back to... hot. Hooray for "record high lows" ...

the air quality is terrible here right now too. it's disastrous. i'm getting all sorts of health problems because of it, most notably skin problems. it's sad that this is the "new normal" for this region. we used to have beautiful summers with clear crisp air and maybe one day of forest fires, not an entire month.

Saharan dust has blanketed portugal, temps exceeding 45c and fire smoke being trapped beneath.

Not exactly weather so much as enviromental factors making the weather much worse than it is!

I'm liking the rainy weather here to help calm the heat down. It's been better here compared to earlier this summer, it's so far the hottest summer in six years.

it finally rained the last day or two, like real heavily! the humidity will kill me as soon as the sun starts coming out again, but everything's turning back to green which is real nice.
