Sure. When can we hang out?

Are you in the area? (Europe), else I can be persuaded for some voice chat if ya like.

Are there any softmods analogous to Free McBoot on the PS2?

No. There isn't.
If you don't have a modchip installed, a bootable disc is always needed.
You can either use a savegame exploit. You'll need someone to write the save to the memorycard, a softmodded Wii can be used for this.
OR you can buy the Datel SD Media Launcher, which comes with an SD-Card adapter (SD-Gecko). Also works as an Action Replay for cheating and Freeloader to play import games.
OR you can use an Action Replay with lots of AR codes to patch itself to boot from SD-Gecko, if you don't already have one, buy the SD Media Launcher instead.
OR you can use the PSO Exploit with a broadband adapter (BBA) (expensive).

I use an SD Media Launcher and a SSBM savegame exploit to run Game Boy Interface.

Also you'll need a Game Boy Player Boot Disc or a way to launch homebrew.

Wow, that's silly and awesome at the same time!
Would this work with other Compile games?

Also, I did also get some new stuff:

I finally got some matching Game Boy Players for my 4 NTSC Cubes. They look so much better now!

I guess that's my reminder to back this (3 hours left, oops)

Anyway, it's not here yet, but I got one of these:

I also got some replacement FDS drive belts, so whenever those arrive it's time to do dumb retro crap.

I also bought 3 different AV Multi Out to SCART cables, mostly so that we could cut them in half and make an FDS Stick cable for better dumping (instead of having to use tapedump )

wow, that looks hella cool! i would want it but that seems to be the size of an Xbox Original or two from comparing it to that Genesis trio. have fun with it though!

Try a baseprint of 2x2 Xboxes ^^;; It's huge. And that's the small one too!

Also, I got those fresh in the mail:

Because I read it here, somewhere, in a post by Xk. Now I just need to sit down and read.

Just a couple games from Japan, arriving earlier than expected, too~

- Pokemon Stadium GSC (N64)
- Custom Robo V2 (N64)
- Crush Gear Turbo (PSX) [*1]
- Fire Pro Joshi All-Star Dream Slam (SFC) [*2]

[*1: Needs a new CD case, this one's cracked in several places; also no spine card, but that's alright]
[*2: Not actually a wrestling fan, just bought this on the off chance the "Human Entertainment" sticker signified a sample cart of some sort, as they have used that kinda sticker on prototype carts, but it's just a retail board]

Seller is called "japan_4_you", btw; ordered from them before, ex. my Japanese DSi XL. Good prices, pretty fast shipping, lots of handhelds from non-working to very good condition, items are well-described; does not have the most diverse selection overall, tho.

Did a little retail therapy and got a bunch of cheap Famicom games on eBay, only spending about $20.

Got Babel no Tou, Binary Land, Ikki, Majou Densetsu II: Daimashikyou Galious, Ninja-kun, Ninja Jajamaru-kun, and Warpman.

Waiting now for them to arrive in the mail, hopefully before I leave for Chicago at the end of the month.

Found in an IBM box that had been in the attic/mezzanine for some time. Looked brand new, worked great. Replaced my 1995 Model M5-2 with this '1984 Model M'.

Reality is it's a 1992 Model 1391401. For whatever reason, IBM left a (c) 1984 IBM Corp on the right side but that part and the FRU number underneath are obvious. Still, a little better than the 1995 I was using. For the record, it's a white label, not a blue.

recently, my new neighbors had a garage sale possibly selling stuff from the previous owners. they had an iMac G3 and an eMac right next to each other for 10 bucks a pop!! they didnt know it was a computer and sold it as a TV that just works. i bought the iMac G3 since it was in perfect condition, unfortunately, the eMac wasn't looking so hot and i didn't have enough space for it anyways, so i left it there to rot.

the iMac came with no RAM or AirPort card for whatever reason and the hard drive was pretty old so i added 768 MB of RAM and a 40GB HDD. it works just fine now with Mac OS 9.2.2 installed. since this iMac is more powerful than my other one that is right beside it, i might install Mac OS X 10.4 as well.

this is my basement, btw

Projectors were always super cool, but the requirement of having a lot of darkness and space always seemed like it got in the way... they're still neat for getting images in places where you can't hook up a TV though

Maybe it's just my massive hands, but I think it's fine. Here's a shot with a bit more perspective.
