Yeah, I'd love to vote them to death. I keep hoping one of these crises will bring them down, but they just have utter contempt for the law, the Australian public, and decency.

Ah, yeah.

I'm not wordsing very well because I'm grossly fatigued at the moment, so uh I may have sounded a bit more flippant than intended.

Either way, too long till we can vote against these buggers. Hopefully they will continue to demonstrate why they should never be re-elected until that day.

Oh yeah, I don't mean the cheating is more important than that. Just stating why I care about it *at all*. The way this government has behaved with everything has been disgusting. The citizenship crisis should have had greater consequences too, but they just… do what they… fucking want???? It's a pattern of behaviour from this government.

The part that I care about is that he's still there without being charged with a criminal offence, forced to resign or stepped down.

But hey, the law and convention only applies to those not on the hard-right.

I care about all of it, the cheating, and the corruption. The cheating mostly because of his role in the anti marriage equality stuff though.

Hoo, boy that's a can of worms.

The annoyance that the media is focusing on the least important part though is the worst thing. Australia doesn't care if you're schtucking your lady friend and cheating on your wife, Australia cares if you're engaging in corruption.

The smoking gun is "how many of these have been sold off to private individuals/foreign government agents without being accounted for".

And yeah, the ABC is pretty dang responsible, but that's the job description for a public but independent broadcaster.

That certainly ranks up there for "biggest fuckups".

I guess they're lucky someone else didn't scoop them up and dump the entire lot online as opposed to just bits and pieces of it.

Today in "what the fuck, Australia?"

Top Secret and confidential parliament documents have been released to the general public....because of second hand furniture sales selling off filing cabinets from parliament and no one could find the keys. Note that this has files dating back 20 years to around the turn of the century, which are supposed to remain classified for at least 20 years.

Just...read for yourself.

Oh yeah, it passed the Senate a couple of days ago. Now it needs to pass the House of Representatives.

Abetz is already trying to sell the virtues of removing anti-discrimination law.

Australian Christian Lobby’s Lyle Shelton, seeking to interpret the result, has said the yes side has “been campaigning for many, many years”, as opposed to the no side, which has only had three months.

Shelton said he respects the results, but:

“Three months wasn’t long enough to overturn 10 years or more [of yes campaigning],” he said.

He said the no side had been highly successful in the short time it had.

“We know that we’ve shifted at least 1m votes, it wasn’t enough to get over the line at the end of the day,” he said.

And the ACL is still an utterly loathesome sack of genital sweat.

Talk about sore losers.

Now we have our PM talking about how it’ll be a free vote in parliament still. There’ll be pollies that will vote against their electorate’s wishes… like Tony Abbott. His electorate was overwhelmingly YES but I can’t imagine him voting YES in parliament…

I love it when these things backfire. Is there any requirement they actually follow this?

Nope, it's not binding!
